2 VITROSILICON was set up in 1988 on the basis of Glassworks in agaƒ. Now we are a joint stock company, member of the Ciech Chemical Group. We have implemented Integrated Management System compliant with ISO 9001:2000, ISO and PN-N as well as received numerous awards and prizes. The activities of our Company consist of manufacturing of a broad range of glass melting products, including high quality glass blocks ClaroGlass. We present to you our catalogue in which we show a full range of glass blocks ClaroGlass as well as basic assembly techniques and systems. Glass has been always fascinating us. Its use in construction industry allows for a simultaneous separation and connection. Thanks to our glass blocks we can also create beautiful glass walls inside various premises. 2

3 Glass Blocks ClaroGlass can be used inside and outside. They transmit light, refracting it beautifully, while shapes and silhouettes remain invisible. We recommend them to be used to: fill in the window openings, construct partition walls, construct shower cabins, bars, terraces and many other elements. Glass blocks ClaroGlass are a 100% Polish product. They have been manufactured by us since 2001 on a modern production line ensuring high quality of blocks in a broad range of types. Satin glass blocks top quality and elegance. Satin glass blocks obtained in the process of chemical pickling of the surface; the surface (contrary to sandblasted tiles) is ideally smooth and thus easy to keep clean. We recommend them especially in the places where intimacy is important, e.g. for the construction of shower cubicles or as partition between various rooms. 3

5 MODULE CLAROGLASS 12 Easy and quick assembly of glass blocks ClaroGlass Pre-prepared ClaroGlass module system allows for a quick and easy construction of window openings of every type in living premises, cellars and industrial buildings. The modules allow also for a quick and easy construction of partition walls or shower cubicles. The principles and guidelines concerning their construction and assembly are similar to those related to the window assembly. It is possible to connect several modules in the case of building larger window openings or other types of constructions. 5

9 Interior doors can be assembled within the glass-block structures in the following ways*: Salmon Graphite adjustable door frames made of glass-block walls are assembled with the use of construction foam, which fills the space between the casing (architrave) and glass blocks. Glass-block walls are 8 cm thick, we mount the doors with traditional casing with the use of steel anchors, placed within the joints between the glass blocks and the fissure. The space between the door frame and the glass-block wall is filled with construction foam. This mode of assembly ensures stability and proper operating of doors and glass-block structures. 20 Assembly of glass blocks Traditional assembly The basic method of glass blocks construction is bricklaying with the use of the cement mortar without lime. Not every type of mortar can be used for glass-block structures. The mortar should have proper adhesion and flexibility, therefore suitable adhesion and flexibility, therefore we recommended using of specialized mortar, for instance CLAROGLASS mortar. 1. Start the assembly from a frame slat, for example a LUX- PROF slat or a steel channel bar which will, together with side and upper slats, constitute a construction frame (the distance between the anchors should be between 40 and 50 cm and no less than three anchors should be used per slat). 5. Place the first layer of glass blocks on such pre-prepared structure, starting from the corner. To keep the right distance between the blocks, use special distance crosses for glass blocks. Place the mortar on the edge of the block and then remove its excess after the block is firmly placed within the structure. 2. The slats should be mounted rigidly on the surface. Check the vertical and horizontal positioning. It will guarantee stability and aesthetics of the whole structure. 6. The whole structure must be reinforced. Place the reinforcing ladder or two 6 mm rods in horizontal mortar joints and single rods alternately on the inside and outside of the structure. Reinforcement ends must be anchored in the framing slate. 3. Place ClaroGlass dilatational tape on the bottom of the construction frame and mount the reinforcing elements: a reinforcement ladder or two 6 mm rods, supporting them with wire fastener so that they cannot fall onto the bottom of the slats. 7. Always remove the excess mortar as it amasses, not allowing for it to dry. Each layer of glass blocks should be placed on the required level, as in the case of the first one, remembering to maintain the pattern of the blocks. 4. Fill the whole frame with ClaroGlass assembly mortar (so that it is completely full of the mortar). 8. After the last layer of the blocks has been placed, remove the plates on both sides of distance crosses. Remove the excess mortar and fill the remaining free space with joint mortar. This activity may take place on the next day, with the use of joint mortar suitable for the width of the joints. 20

21 Assembling and finishing elements Apart from the glass blocks, our offer includes all the materials necessary to assemble the glass blocks. For traditional assembly we recommended: white and grey ClaroGlass mortar, the reinforcement from rods and ladders with anti-corrosion protection system, ClaroGlass dilatational tape, distance crosses 6 mm and 10 mm joints and for the construction of arched walls. Constructions with at least one free side can be finished with glass finishing plates or mirror finishing plates and finishing strips type UJ, available in our offer. LUX-PROF system is not a construction system; it only facilitates assembly and replaces the joints. It consists of three elements: external slats (2.6 m length) horizontal connectors (2.6 m length) vertical connectors (19 cm length) Block Lock Orginal is a system for the assembly of glass blocks without the use of mortar and accessories. It allows for the construction of glass block structures inside and outside. Block Lock is available in ready-made assembly sets.
