1 Best Western Supply Guide for Public Areas FITNESS ROOM New Members BEST WESTERN Properties Provide a compliant Fitness Center SIZE 275 sq. ft. minimum for up to 100 rooms; 50 sq. ft. minimum for each piece of equipment. Add 50 sq.ft. of floor space for each additional 50 rooms. Sufficient space must be provided for all equipment and amenities. Best Western recommends verifying with equipment manufacturer or requesting a floor plan to ensure that all equipment will fit properly. A minimum of four (4) pieces of equipment is required, and must include cardio and strength training equipment. Health club quality equipment is required. Equipment to include one (1) bike, one (1) treadmill, one (1) elliptical and a minimum two-station gym. Add one (1) piece of equipment for each additional 50 rooms. 3 BATHROOM A guestroom style bathroom (with tub or shower) is not permitted. A public restroom with toilet and sink is permitted. ENCLOSURE New Construction: A minimum of 50 STC, if the room is adjacent to a guest room(s) or areas adjoining guest room(s) DESIGN GUIDELINES: Ceiling Height Ceiling Walls Floor Trim Doors A minimum of 9-0 for all floors. (Exception: Guest Room corridors and public corridors 8-0 minimum). 4 Temperature Mirror Accessories Telephone The room must have a separate thermostat located in the room. The recommended temperature in the room is between degrees Fahrenheit One full wall, floor to ceiling. Wall Mounted Clock One house phone must be provided in the fitness room that rings directly to the hotel operator. Signage A professionally produced sign indicating the hours of operation posted outside of the room. The sign must be consistent with other signs throughout the property and with interior finishes. All interior signs that display the Best Western name, logo, trademark, slogan, etc., must be reviewed and approved by Best Western Brand Identity Administration or purchased from an endorsed supplier prior to installation.
