2 Today, health issues, a key factor in a country s development, extend beyond national borders and require global action. Emboldened by this, Ahimsa Partners has decided : To refocus its activities on Health Diplomacy and direct its efforts to supporting the different stakeholders around the world and advocating on Global Health issues: To set up a new endowment fund: Ahimsa Fund, specializing in Health Anthropology. Ahimsa Fund will use its expertise to assist the world s poorest people. Its mission will be to develop social entrepreunership projects aimed at improving access to health for everyone. Each year, the Fund will organize an international event (Ahimsa Round Table: ART) on a topic relating to global health. The forthcoming edition will be held on June 2013 at Fondation Mérieux Center in Annecy, France, on 'Global Health and Faith-Based Communities'. 2

3 Global Health Diplomacy: The aim of Global Health diplomacy is to promote dialogue amongst publichealth stakeholders and to find new models and mechanisms of funding to improve access to healthcare for everyone, everywhere. The mission of Ahimsa Partners is to promote dialogue amongst health actors around the world through innovative partnerships, through regional and inter-regional alliances. Such an approach must reinforce the idea that our differences are strengths on which we must build our future, not weaknesses behind which we have to hide. 3

4 Today the global IVD landscape is the following : The global diagnostic business is around 39 billions US$, of which 40% US, 33% Europe, 13% Japan, 20% of the worldwide population represents 80% of the global market in sales. The 15 Top Ten companies deliver 80% of the worldwide turnover, 80% of the today worldwide market is split around 20% of the worldwide population? 4

5 Advocacy Diagnostics for the benefit of the individual patient is undervalued by the major stakeholders in the world. The Lewin report on the Value of Diagnostics noted that while diagnostics comprise less than 1.6% of all USA Medicare costs, their findings influence 60-70% of health care decisionmaking. 5
