1 Board of Trustees Marla Shapiro C.M., MDCM, CCFP, MHSc, FRCPC, FCFP, NCMP President Dr. Shapiro is Professor, Department of Family and Community Medicine, at the University of Toronto. She completed medical school at McGill University and received a Master s of Health Science in Community Health and Epidemiology. She is certified in Family Medicine by the Canadian College of Family Practice, concluded specialty training in Preventive Medicine and Public Health, received a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and holds a Fellowship in Family Medicine. She is a NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner. She is a well known medical journalist, Health and Medical Expert, and medical consultant for CTV News and CTV News Channel. She writes a weekly blog for the CTV.ca website, is Founding Editor of Parents Canada, and serves on the Editorial Board of Menopause. She has served on the boards of Baycrest Hospital, Research Canada, Canadian Partnership Against Cancer. She serves on the board of the Canadian Foundation for Women and Health and the Dairy Farmers of Canada. She has served on the NAMS Scientific Program and Consumer Education committees. She has received numerous awards, including the Israeli Cancer Research Fund award, the Peter R. Newman Humanitarian Award, the NAMS Media Award, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada/Canadian Foundation for Women s Health Award for Excellence in Women s Health Journalism, the Award of Excellence from the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the McGill Alumni Global Community Health Award, and the Order of Canada, the highest civilian honor that can be awarded to a Canadian. Sheryl A. Kingsberg, PhD President Elect Dr. Kingsberg is Chief of Behavioral Medicine at MacDonald Women s Hospital/University Hospitals Case Medical Center and Professor of Reproductive Biology and Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio. Her areas of clinical specialization include sexual medicine, female sexual disorders, cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, menopause, pregnancy and postpartum mood disorders, psychological aspects of infertility, and psychological and sexual aspects of cancer. Dr. Kingsberg s primary research interests are in treatments for female sexual disorders and the psychological aspects of infertility and menopause. She has published numerous articles in many national and international peer reviewed journals, sits on the Editorial Board of Menopause, is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Sexual Medicine, and has authored numerous chapters on topics including perimenopause and sexuality, oocyte donation, infertility and aging, the treatment of psychogenic erectile dysfunction, and sexuality after cancer. Dr. Kingsberg received a PhD from the University of South Florida in Tampa and completed a fellowship in Sexual Medicine at University Hospitals Case Medical Center. She is an active member in a number of national and international organizations, including the American Psychological Association and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. She currently serves on the Executive Committee of the NAMS Board of Trustees and is a Past President of the International Society for the Study of Women s Sexual Health. Peter F. Schnatz, DO, FACOG, FACP, NCMP Immediate Past President Dr. Schnatz is Associate Chairman and Residency Program Director in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Reading Hospital. He is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Internal Medicine at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He serves on the NAMS Board of Trustees and on the Editorial Board of Menopause. He is the Immediate Past President of NAMS, past Chair of the NAMS Professional Education Committee, and a member of the NAMS Executive Committee and was Chair of the 2015 Scientific Program Committee. He is a member of the leadership counsel and Vice President Elect of the Obstetrical Society of Philadelphia, the Region II Program Director s Representative to the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG), and a reviewer for multiple journals. He is also Chairman of the Board and CEO of FaithCare Inc, an organization involved in local and international humanitarian aid. Dr. Schnatz is a NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner and actively involved as a clinician and as a researcher. Dr. Schnatz s research interests include menopause (hormone therapy, vitamin D, and coronary artery disease), cervical dysplasia, and medical education. He graduated from the School of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (currently Rowan University) and completed his Internal Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology residencies at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Schnatz enjoys tennis, photography, camping, sports, and spending time with his four children, Rebekah, Abigail, Sarah, and David.

Liu, MD, NCMP Treasurer Dr. Liu is Chair of the Departments of Reproductive Biology at Case Western Reserve University and of Obstetrics and Gynecology at University Hospitals MacDonald Women s Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. He is the Arthur H. Bill Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He was on the University of California San Diego faculty and served as Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Cincinnati (UC). He was Principal Investigator (PI) of the Women s Health Initiative site at UC and is currently PI of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development Contraceptive Trial Network at Case Western and on the Study of Women s Health Across the Nation Advisory Committee. He holds five patents on drug delivery and was a member of the FDA Advisory Committee on Reproductive Drugs. He was the Vice Chair of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Committee on Gynecologic Practice and the Chair of the Gynecologic Practice Bulletins Committee. He served on the American Society of Reproductive Medicine s Practice Committee for 6 years. He chaired the National Institutes of Health National Center for Research Resources Study Section from He has authored more than 100 publications, has served on the Editorial Boards of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Fertility and Sterility, and currently serves on the Editorial Boards of Menopause and Journal of Reproductive Medicine. He is a noted expert on progestins in reproduction and in menopause. He and his wife, Lynne, have three children and six grandchildren. Andrew M. Kaunitz, MD, FACOG, NCMP Secretary Dr. Kaunitz is University of Florida Research Foundation tenured Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine Jacksonville. He is Medical Director and Director of Menopause and Gynecologic Ultrasound Services at the UF Southside Women s Specialists at Emerson. He received his medical degree from Columbia University s College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York and completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. After his residency, he served as an Epidemic Intelligence Officer in the Division of Reproductive Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Dr. Kaunitz consults with the CDC regarding publications and guidelines concerning contraception. He is Editor in Chief of NEJM Journal Watch Women s Health and an Expert Advisor for Medscape OB/GYN and Women s Health. He is on the Editorial Boards of Menopause, Contraception, OBG Management, and Contraceptive Technology Update. Dr. Kaunitz has served as Chair of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals and as President of the Florida Obstetrics and Gynecology Society. He is a NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner. Dr. Kaunitz has made presentations to FDA Advisory Committees and the National Institutes of Health regarding contraception and menopause and has authored or coauthored numerous chapters (including 11 sections in UpToDate). He has published more than 200 articles in peer reviewed journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Contraception, Menopause, and the Journal of Adolescent Health. He is Chair of the NAMS 2017 Scientific Program Committee. JoAnn V. Pinkerton, MD, NCMP Executive Director Dr. Pinkerton was appointed as NAMS Executive Director in October She is Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Division Director of Midlife Health at the University of Virginia (UVA) Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia a highly successful multidisciplinary Women s Health Center that she developed and continues to lead. At UVA, she maintains an active clinical practice dedicated to addressing all areas of midlife women s health. Dr. Pinkerton received her medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at UVA. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a long term fellow of ACOG. She has been a NAMS member since 1992, served on the NAMS Board from 2004 to 2010, and was the Society s President. She is the Editor for the journal Menopause. She is also a NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner. Dr. Pinkerton has served on many of the Society s Committees, including serving as Chair of the Scientific Program Committee for the 2008 Annual Meeting. She continues to serve on many national and international committees for women s health. She has authored more than 90 peer reviewed publications, 30 invited papers, and 11 invited chapters and has served as Primary Investigator for more than 30 clinical trials. Her research and clinical care focuses on treatment of hot flashes with hormone and nonhormone therapies. Recent awards include the 2013 UVA Sharon Hostler Women in Leadership Award and annual Best Doctors and Top Doctors in America since 2010.

3 Lisa A. Chism, DNP, APRN, FAANP, NCMP Dr. Chism is the Clinical Director of the Women s Wellness Clinic and a Sexual Health Counselor and Educator at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit, Michigan. She is also Adjunct Assistant Professor at Madonna University School of Nursing and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Department of Surgery. In 2014, she completed a sexual health certificate program at the University of Michigan and is currently pursuing certification as a sexual health counselor. She has published numerous articles and also presented at peer reviewed conferences on the topic of menopause and induced menopause as a result of cancer therapies. Dr. Chism also has developed a menopause and sexual health clinic at the Karmanos Cancer Institute, caring for patients who are experiencing menopause and sexual health concerns. She has been an Active Member of NAMS since Her contributions to the Society include serving as a member of the NAMS Consumer Education Committee, Scientific Program Committee, and Membership Committee (Chair, ). She also has served on the NAMS Poster Judging Panel and has hosted roundtable breakfast sessions at the NAMS Annual Meeting. She is also a member of the Editorial Board for Menopause. In 2011, Dr. Chism received the NAMS Menopause Practitioner of the Year Award. She was elected to the NAMS Board in Howard N. Hodis, MD Dr. Hodis is the Harry J. Bauer and Dorothy Bauer Rawlins Professor of Cardiology, Professor of Medicine and Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine, Professor of Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology in the School of Pharmacy, and Director of the Atherosclerosis Research Unit at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. For more than 2 decades, he has been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health for his work integrating translational research, biomedical engineering, and integrative biology/medicine. He has been the Principal Investigator of several studies focused on women s health issues, including cardiovascular disease, cognition, bone health, breast cancer, isoflavones, and menopause symptoms. He has been an Active Member of NAMS since His contributions to the Society include serving on the Scientific Program Committee, Exam Committee, and Poster Judging Panel. He is currently on the Advisory Panel for the 2016 NAMS hormone therapy position statement. He has been a speaker at the NAMS Annual Meeting and in 2010 received the NAMS/Thomas B. Clarkson Outstanding Clinical and Basic Science Research Award. He also participated in the NAMS Translational Symposium on the role of soy isoflavones in menopause health. He was re elected to a second term on the Board in Michael R. McClung, MD, FACP Dr. McClung is an endocrinologist, with a special interest in disorders of calcium and bone metabolism. As Director of the Oregon Osteoporosis Center in Portland, he has been the Principal Investigator of many clinical trials evaluating the utility of tests for diagnosis and monitoring osteoporosis and effects of therapeutic agents for that disease. He serves on the Board of the International Osteoporosis Foundation and served on the WHO Fracture Risk Assessment Task Force that led to the implementation of the FRAX fracture risk assessment tool. He has been involved in the development of clinical guidelines for several national osteoporosis societies. Dr. McClung first joined NAMS in 2002, and his contributions include serving as a speaker at several of the Society s Annual Meetings and participating as a roundtable moderator. He was a member of several Advisory Panels for the Society s Position Statements on Osteoporosis and is currently serving on the panel for the 2016 Hormone Therapy Position Statement. He serves on the Editorial Board of Menopause and has been a contributor to that journal and to Menopause Care Updates. Recognizing his contributions to the field, NAMS presented him with the Innovations in Osteoporosis Award in He was again recognized in 2015 when he received the Society s Outstanding Educator Award. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the International Osteoporosis Foundation, on the editorial boards of several specialty journals, and frequently speaks at international meetings. His special interests include car trips, music, and golf.

4 Katherine M. Newton, PhD, RN Dr. Newton is Senior Investigator at the Group Health Research Institute (GHRI) in Seattle, Washington, and Affiliate Associate Professor of Nursing and Epidemiology at the University of Washington. She has been a woman s health and chronic disease epidemiologist for more than 20 years after having a successful career as a critical care nurse. Dr. Newton has conducted clinical trials and survey and observational studies related to menopause therapy decision making, alternative methods to manage menopause symptoms, selective estrogen receptor modulators, and soy isoflavones and has published widely on these topics. She was an invited participant in the 2006 National Institute on Aging sponsored think tank, New Interventions for Menopausal Symptoms, that ultimately funded the Menopause Strategies: Finding Lasting Answers for Symptoms and Health (MsFLASH) network. She served as Principal Investigator for the first MsFLASH grant and is a coinvestigator for MsFLASH2. GHRI successfully recruited for the three MsFLASH trials. Dr. Newton has been a member of NAMS since 1997, serving on the 2014 and 2017 Scientific Program Committees, the Professional Education Committee, and as an abstract reviewer for the 2013, 2014, and 2016 Annual Meetings. She has also served as a speaker at the Annual Meeting. She was the recipient of a NAMS poster prize in 2011 for her poster, Self Reported Vasomotor Symptoms and Dietary Isoflavones: Results From the LeAVES Study. She was elected to the NAMS Board in In her free time, Dr. Newton enjoys working in fused glass, traveling, and spending time with friends on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound. Gloria Richard Davis, MD, FACOG Dr. Richard Davis is Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Division, Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS). She is board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility and Obstetrics and Gynecology. Past positions include Chair and Professor, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Associate Director, Center for Women s Health Research, Meharry Medical College, and Major in the Army Medical Corp. She is a member of the NAMS Board and Editorial Board for Menopause. At the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, she established and is Past and Founding President of the Special Interest Group in Health Disparities. She served on the Council on Hormone Education and the Task Force on Hormone Therapy for the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She is a reviewer for multiple journals and serves as a thought leader or consultant on advisory boards and committees. Dr. Richard Davis coauthored the book Planning Parenthood: Strategies for Success in Fertility Assistance, Adoption and Surrogacy and has shared her expertise through national and international presentations, peerreviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters. She received numerous honors for teaching, community service, and patient advocacy and has been awarded more than $1.5 million in National Institutes of Health and other grants for research and education. She and her husband, Dr. Rodney Davis, Chair and Professor of Urology at UAMS, serve on international medical missions in East and West Africa with the African Medical and Research Foundation. They have 16 year old twin girls, Madison and Morgan. The family enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, and golfing. Nanette F. Santoro, MD Dr. Santoro is E. Stewart Taylor Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Denver. She has been an active clinician and researcher in Reproductive Endocrinology since She has authored more than 220 scientific publications and three books. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Santoro is a Past Member and Treasurer of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and currently serves as Secretary Treasurer of the American Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists Foundation. She is Past Vice President for Clinical Research for the Endocrine Society. She has been a member of NAMS since 1994, serving as a speaker at the NAMS Annual Meeting and contributing to several committees, including the Abstract Review Committee, Awards Committee, and Professional Education Committee. In 2004, she received the NAMS Perimenopause Research Award. Dr. Santoro s research interests include the health implications of premature menopause, perimenopause, and postmenopause. She has been involved with numerous government, foundation, and industry supported clinical trials, including the Study of Women s Health Across the Nation, the Kronos Early Estrogen Prevention Study, the Women s Health Initiative, the MS HIV Study, and the Reproductive Physiology of Ovarian Failure. She is coeditor of the Textbook of Perimenopausal Gynecology; Amenorrhea: A Clinician s Guide; and the upcoming Primary Ovarian Insufficiency 2016: A Clinical Guide to Early Menopause. She is Principal Investigator for the Colorado Women s Reproductive Health Research Career Development Award and the Clinical Research in Reproductive Endocrine Scientist Training Program Award.

5 Isaac Schiff, MD Editor in Chief, Menopause Dr. Schiff is a graduate of McGill Medical School. He did his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as a Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology, at the Boston Hospital for Women, now Brigham and Women s Hospital. He was Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at Brigham and Women s Hospital before moving to Massachusetts General Hospital in 1988 to become Chief of the Vincent Obstetrics and Gynecology Service. He was responsible for initiating the Obstetrics Program, the In Vitro Fertilization Program, and the Division of Urogynecology and for recruiting the leadership for the Vincent Center for Reproductive Biology. He stepped down as Chief on December 1, He is the Joe Vincent Meigs Distinguished Professor of Gynecology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Schiff is one of the Founding Trustees of NAMS, was a former President of NAMS, and has served as Editor in Chief of Menopause since its inception. Dr. Schiff was also Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board of Pause, the consumer journal of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Rebecca C. Thurston, PhD Dr. Thurston is Professor of Psychiatry, Psychology, Epidemiology, and Clinical and Translational Science and Director of the Women s Biobehavioral Health Laboratory at the University of Pittsburgh. She received a BA in Human Biology from Stanford University and a PhD in Clinical Health Psychology from Duke University and served as a Robert Wood Johnson Scholar at Harvard University. Her research interests focus on menopause, vasomotor symptoms, cardiovascular disease, and behavioral interventions in midlife women. She has published more than 100 articles in the areas of menopause and women s health. She serves as Principal Investigator of several National Institutes of Health (R01) and (K24) funded studies. Dr. Thurston is also a licensed clinical psychologist, specializing in menopause, and directs an innovative integrated clinical service within a gynecology setting to address the behavioral health needs of midlife women. She has served on the NAMS Scientific Program Committee and on the Editorial Board of Menopause. She also serves as Chair of the NAMS Research Affairs Committee, leads the NAMS Mentorship Program, and has served on the NAMS Poster Judging Panel and Awards Committee and is a frequent speaker, moderator, and breakfast roundtable leader at NAMS Annual Meetings. Dr. Thurston has received numerous awards, including the International Menopause Society s Henry Burger Prize, the American Federation of Aging Research s Gender Differences in Aging Award, and the NAMS/Duramed Pharmaceuticals Vasomotor Symptoms Research Award. Dr. Thurston is an elected fellow of the Academy of Behavioral Medicine Research. Wulf H. Utian, MD, PhD, DSc(Med) Honorary Trustee and Executive Director Emeritus Dr. Utian is NAMS Executive Director Emeritus and Honorary Founding President; Professor Emeritus, Reproductive Biology, Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland; Chairman, Advisory Board of Rapid Medical Research; and Consultant in Women s Health for the Cleveland Clinic. He has been Director of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Mt. Sinai Medical Center, Cleveland, and then at University Hospitals, Cleveland, and Chairman, Reproductive Biology at Case Western Reserve University. He received his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and PhD and DSc (Med) degrees from the University of Cape Town. Board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology, he is a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and International College of Surgeons. He is an independent consultant in women s health issues, especially regarding new drug development. A pioneer of menopause related and infertility research, he is one of the three original founders of the International Menopause Society (1976) and founded the Council of Affiliated Menopause Societies (1984). He established NAMS in He has written more than 200 scientific papers and has authored eight books on menopause. His latest is Change Your Menopause Why One Size Does Not Fit All, with the revised second edition published in February One of the Founding Editors of Maturitas, he also is Honorary Founding Editor of Menopause and edited Menopause Management for more than 20 years. He lectures and has been honored worldwide. Dr. Utian currently divides his time between South Africa and the United States.
