2 Who we are The International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) is a non-governmental organisation that promotes the improvement of dermatological care, education and science across the world. We bring together over 160 member societies from more than 80 countries. The ILDS has access to the experience of more than 100,000 dermatologists. We celebrate and share the broad range of approaches to skin health and disease that exist throughout the world. What we do 160+ Member societies 80+ Countries worldwide 100,000 Dermatology specialists Officially founded in 1935, the ILDS has been promoting skin health for the world for over 80 years. Its forerunner began in 1889 as the first of many World Congresses of Dermatology, which are now held every four years. The ILDS provides ongoing leadership and support to foster initiatives, projects and policies with global impact for those affected by skin disease.
3 Vision Attaining the best possible skin health for all people around the world. Mission The mission of the ILDS is to increase awareness, cooperation and communication within the global dermatology community to promote high quality education, clinical care, research and innovation that will improve skin health globally. Guiding Principles Collaboration To work collaboratively and in partnership with all our stakeholders. Impact To maximise our impact by measuring and evaluating progress towards our strategic objectives. Communications To use a range of methods to raise awareness and communicate effectively. Hats on for Skin Health 4 5 Evidence To ensure that our work reflects the best and most current knowledge, practices, and evidence. Stewardship To identify priorities and commit resources based on realistic assessments of our capabilities.
4 ILDS Strategic Plan Goal: To increase the impact of the ILDS on skin health worldwide. In 2015, the ILDS looked at the global status of dermatology and asked what we could do to help achieve equality. We did group work and strategic analysis. Skin Health for the World is our response. Objective 1 We will provide strategic leadership, leveraging ILDS' international standing and representation to influence global health policies and practices and to educate and empower dermatologists, their societies and the public. Strategic International Leadership and Policy Impact Representation, Sustainability, and Advancement Objective 2 We will enhance representation and sustainability within the ILDS. We will also promote our advancement by actively engaging our member societies. Objective 3 We will improve dermatological care of patients in underserved areas of the world.
