2 Q&A with KATHY KATHY answers questions about her life, experiences, and good memories Which words describe your personality? Easygoing, funny, generous, hard-working, honest, loyal, neat, polite, smart. Describe your strong sides: Some of my strong sides are the ability to be open-minded and receptive to listening and accepting new ideas. I am adaptable in that I can easily manipulate my behaviors and ideas to fit new situations. I m also a very encouraging and supportive to everyone in my life. Describe your weak sides: I can be very hard on myself. For example, in school when I do poorly on a test, I can be very hard on myself. I love to challenge myself and sometimes I take on more than I can handle. What is your marital status? In a relationship. Do you have any children? No. Religion: Christianity. How many hours of sleep do you get on an average night? 7. Do you eat healthy? I try. Do you smoke? No. Do you ride a bicycle? Sometimes. How much alcohol do you drink on average per week? I drink socially, 2-3 glasses of wine per week. Which countries have you visited: Costa Rica, Italy, Nicaragua, United States. Which types of sport do you play or have played? I was a dancer from the time I could walk until I was 9 years old. I started playing soccer in middle school, and continued until I graduated high school. I also played volleyball and ran track in high school. I enjoy weightlifting and running now that I am no longer involved in team sports. Which other types of sports are you interested in? I love playing soccer and I love sitting down with friends to watch a big match. I am a huge baseball fan, and recently, I have started watching football. List any other hobbies you may have or have had: In my spare time I enjoy reading a great book. I am a huge outdoors person so getting outside to swim, hike, run, surf, or kayak is always a great way to spend time. List which musical instruments you play or have played: None. Describe the best holiday you have had: When I was a little girl, my family would get together at my grandmother s lake house for Thanksgiving. I love Thanksgiving because there is so much delicious food, but having everyone you love together in one place is the best part. We would organize a family football scrimmage, have a quick volleyball game, eat a lot of food, and sit down for the Thanksgiving football games until we fell asleep. My favorite thing about any holiday is spending time with family I do not get to see as often as I would like. What do you like the most about your own country: America offers so much opportunity for all. People are able to receive great healthcare to achieve a longer, fuller life. The United States has gone further than any other country to achieve social equality and equality of rights, making it a very desirable place to live. I also love that the United States gives so many opportunities to children and young adults, so they can create a lives for themselves based on their own goals and desires.
3 Q&A with KATHY - continued KATHY s dreams, favorites and experiences Who are your idols/heroes/heroines? When I was a little girl, the main people I looked up to were my mom and my older sister. My mom has always been a very focused and hard-working individual! I admire her drive and I hope to be as successful as she is. I would watch my sister go through school and I wanted to do just as well as she did! My sister was an amazing dancer and I always aspired to dance just like her. She taught me to believe in my ability to be very good at what I love. What are your goals in life? My goal in life is to become a successful dentist. I want to be married and have a big house on a huge lot of land with a lot of dogs! I just want to be successful and happy with my family! What were your childhood dreams: My childhood dream was to be a scientist. In elementary school, I absolutely fell in love with science. I remember doing a science project making a rocket and I thought how cool it would be to be a scientist. I am still very much in love with the science of medicine, and I hope I can be a part of growing the healthcare industry. Which values do you rank the highest? Loyalty, trust, honesty, family. Which childhood experience made the biggest impression on you? When I was 6 years old, my dance company used to go to the local nursing homes and perform a dance recital for the elderly patients around Christmastime. Seeing their faces light up as we would dance melted my heart, even as a child. I believe this experience has led me to love healthcare for the elderly and it brings warmth to my heart around Christmas time. Which was your greatest experience or moment? The greatest moment in my life was starting college and being on my own! I felt a sense of freedom I had never experienced before, and I got to start making my own life decisions! Happiest: When members of my family got back home from deployment in the military overseas! Funniest: When my dad played a prank on my sister and me on a vacation when we were younger! Scariest: The scariest experience was visiting a haunted house. I have never understood why people enjoy being purposely scared, but I tried it, and it felt like having one heart attack after another. I will never go back to experience this ever again! Proudest: Becoming an aunt! I think that day was my happiest, greatest and proudest ever! Most dangerous: The most dangerous moment in my life was when I was scuba diving in ocean! It was extremely dangerous because I could see sharks and there was no barrier protecting me from the creatures in the open water. Greatest sorrow: The greatest sorrow of my life was when a very good friend of mine passed away in a car accident. Learning how to cope with this loss was the most sorrowful thing I have ever had to experience. What is your favorite color? Purple is my favorite color, because in different shades it brings me different feelings. I love the shades of purple found in exotic flowers and butterflies. What is your favorite animal? My favorite animal is a dog. Dogs are my favorite because they show true emotion towards their owner and other animals. I love how when you get home they are genuinely happy to see you and be with you again. What is your favorite kind of food? My favorite food is pizza. In fact, any food with a lot of cheese on it is a contender for my favorite type of food! I absolutely love cheese. What is your favorite kind of music: I love all music. I usually listen to rock, country and hip-hop music. My absolute favorite type of music, though, is Christmas music! What is your favorite kind of car: My favorite car is a Ford Edge. I love how they are smooth drivers but have a ton of space. I have always wanted a truck, but I believe a Ford Edge would be just as great! What is your favorite kind of pet: My favorite pet is my dog. He is a lab mix and has so much energy. We love to run together and play fetch with other doggies at the dog park. What is your favorite time of year: My favorite time of year is winter. I love winter because I love Christmas and cold weather. Waking up on a winter morning, embracing the cold air, and drinking a cup of coffee is amazing! What is your favorite book and/or author: My favorite books are the Harry Potter series. What is your favorite movie and/or director: My favorite movie is Elf. I cannot express how much I love Christmas. Elf is hilarious and I never stop laughing when it is on!
