2 Introduction to Cervical Skills Training Course This training programme is a competency based, theoretical and practical programme which involves: o Attendance at the core one day cervical skills training course. Theoretical learning with a practical workshop. o Direct Supervision of 15 cervical samples o Indirect supervision of 5 cervical samples o Demonstrate SCCRS competence o Attendance for 1 session at colposcopy clinic o Completion of Log Book, Competencies and Completion Verification Certificate Cervical Skills Core One day Training Course, Public Health, NHSGGC

3 Entry Requirements o Student must be a qualified practicing nurse/midwife or qualified medical doctor. o The student is able to complete the training criteria within a 4 month period o To remain competent the student must be able to perform 20 cervical samples within a 12 month period following successful completion of the initial training programme Pre-Course Requirements o NHS access o SCCRS o Login/Password o Knowledge of SCCRS o Ability to use SCCRS appropriately o Mentor o Ability to attend Colposcopy Course Requirements o Attend core one day training o Attend session at colposcopy o Achieve 20 satisfactory cervical samples under guidance of mentor o Achieve competency by having workbook ratified by mentor o Demonstrate competency using SCCRS Cervical Skills Core One day Training Course, Public Health, NHSGGC
