3 INTRODUCTION This training has been developed for experienced clinicians who are already assumed to have the CBT for psychosis competences outlined in the Roth & Pilling Competency Framework for Psychosis (2013) but who would benefit from an update regarding latest advances in EIP and CBT for psychosis, and specialist CBT supervision training. We are offering funded places on our 2016 Easter School 4-day workshop programme, and 3-day specialist CBT supervision training course (details provided below). COURSE PARTICIPANTS Limited HEE funded places are available for individuals working within NHS England EIP services who can demonstrate that they: - Have an existing Postgraduate Diploma in CBT for Psychosis (CBTp) OR - Can demonstrate receipt of generic CBT training (at PGDip level or equivalent) AND CBT for psychosis expertise (as evidence by work as a CBTp trial therapist or attending numerous CBTp conferences post generic CBT training) AND having received supervision from an expert in field. Additionally, applicants must be engaged in ongoing CBTp supervised practice, and currently attending specific CBTp supervision which must be at least monthly. Exceptions to these criteria are at the discretion of the course organisers. COURSE CONTENT The training provision is outlined below. Training will be held in Oxford and successful applicants for funded places are expected to attend all training days. 1. Easter School Workshop Series (14 th 17 th March 2016) Day 1: Early Interventions in Psychosis (Facilitated by Dr Louise Johns, University of Oxford) CBT for adolescents with psychosis - Dr Sophie Browning (South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust). Prevention of long term social disability amongst young people with emerging psychological difficulties - Prof David Fowler (University of Sussex). Day 2: Recent Advances in CBT for Delusions (Facilitated by Prof Daniel Freeman, University of Oxford) An overview of current knowledge and future directions in the treatment of persecutory delusions - Prof Daniel Freeman (University of Oxford). 3

4 Treatment of worry in persecutory delusions - Dr Bryony Sheaves (University of Oxford) & Dr Louise Isham (University of Oxford; Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre). Working with disrupted sleep in psychosis Dr Felicity Waite (University of Oxford). Self-esteem and self-confidence in psychosis Prof Daniel Freeman (University of Oxford). Re-learning safety Prof Daniel Freeman (University of Oxford). Day 3: Working with Hallucinations (Facilitated by Dr Louise Johns, University of Oxford) Working with command hallucinations Dr Alan Meaden (Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust). Avatar therapy for voices Dr Tom Ward (King s College London). Day 4: At Risk Mental States; Working with Trauma (Facilitated by Prof Daniel Freeman, University of Oxford) Working with At Risk Mental States (ARMS) Dr Majella Byrne (King s College London) & Dr Louise Johns (University of Oxford). Treating trauma in psychosis - Dr Tonnie Staring (Altrecht Psychiatric Institute, Utrecht). 2. Easter School Supervision Training (21 st 23 rd March 2016) Days 1 & 2: An Introduction to CBT Supervision - Dr Sarah Rakovshik (Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre; University of Oxford) & Dr Kate Muse (University of Worcester) This workshop focuses on developing and refining the essential skills of CBT supervision. It will: review how individuals can best prepare themselves as supervisors; present the empirical base for CBT supervision; review CBT supervision core competencies; emphasise the core skills of supervision; review key models of supervision; explore how practice can be optimised by considering process issues in supervision and the supervisory alliance; review methods of assessing supervisee competency in CBT (specifically the use of the Assessment of Core CBT Skills (ACCS) Measure; Muse & McManus 2013). Day 3: CBT supervision in psychosis - Dr Louise Johns (University of Oxford) & Dr Louise Isham (University of Oxford; Oxford Cognitive Therapy Centre) This workshop builds on the previous two days and considers issues specific to supervising practitioners in CBT for psychosis work and within Early Intervention in particular. This will 4

5 include training participants in the use of the Revised Cognitive Therapy for Psychosis Adherence Scale (R-CTPAS; Rollinson et al 2008). APPLICATION PROCESS The closing date for applications for the course is 4 th March 2016 and applications must be received by OCTC by this date. Places are limited as per HEE directions and applications must be made in agreement with the local trust. Applications for this course should be made via to octc@oxfordhealth.nhs.uk Please ensure that all documents required for application are submitted together in a single . Application must include: Covering letter Completed Application Form CV Reference from current clinical supervisor attesting to the applicant s o level of experience in CBT for psychosis; o ongoing CBTp supervised practice o attendance at CBT for psychosis specific supervision of at least monthly frequency Transcript(s) from previous higher education Within their application, applicants MUST also demonstrate that they: Have an existing Postgraduate Diploma in CBT for Psychosis OR Received generic CBT training (at PGDip level or equivalent) Have substantial CBT for psychosis expertise as evidence by i) work as a CBTp trial therapist and/or attendance at numerous CBTp conferences (post generic CBT training); and (ii) have received regular supervision from an expert in field. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate that they are engaged in ongoing CBTp supervised practice, and attend specific CBTp supervision which must be at least monthly. Applicants who evidence that they meet all the criteria listed above will be allocated funded places on a first come first served basis. 5
