2 Patellar Mobility Knee B-02 P, D Check mobility and glide of patella: Proximally (right photo); Distally; Medially; (left photo); Laterally; Lifting (anteriorly); Clockwise and counterclockwise tilt (in frontal plane). Hold into direction where restrictions are found, wait for direct release. Active isometric contraction and release of quadriceps, or raising and lowering knee slightly, can aid medial and lateral releases. Indicated for limited knee extension, or patellar noise, or patellar pain. Patellar noise often associated with lack of medial mobility. Optionally, feel for and work soft tissues contributing to restrictions found (e.g., quadriceps in the case of limited inferior glide). Til Luchau: BONE - ABMP/ Mini-Manual Adv. Myo.
