OpenCount 100 The following operating instructions will assist you in using the OpenCount 100 call data recording software and answer most of the questions that may arise. If you require further technical support or information about other DeTeWe products, please refer to our website at OpenCom 100 Product Family This manual applies to the OpenCom 100 product family. OpenCount 100 can be operated on the OpenCom 107, OpenCom 130/ 150 and OpenCom 510 systems which belong to this product family. If a reference is made in the text to the OpenCom 100, the description applies to all systems; if the individual characteristics are different, a special note is given. 5 OpenCount Overview OpenCount 100 (in the following: OpenCount) is an optional software package for the OpenCom 100 communications system (OpenCom 107, OpenCom 130/150 and OpenCom 510). This software package records the data associated with all ISDN calls made through the OpenCom 100. The recorded connection data can be displayed on the screen and analysed using a number of individually configurable filter criteria. Web Console Application The OpenCom 100 software integrates the OpenCount package as a Web application which can be conveniently operated via the Web interface (Web console) of the OpenCom 100. Users must be given authorisation to use the application. Authorisation for each user group is configured by the system administrator. Data Records For every ISDN call made through the OpenCom 100, the following parameters are stored as a data record: Start time and duration of the call ISDN units and ISDN charges The internal and external telephone numbers (MSN or system access trunk number) between which the connection is established The internal telephone number s user The company this user works for This is useful for analysing connection data if several companies are using the same OpenCom 100 (multi-tenant system). The network provider used for the call The ISDN service type (telephone, fax etc.) OpenCount Overview 3

6 Whether the connection was an incoming or an outgoing call (i.e. whether the user made or received the call) Which OpenCom 100 port and which route was used for the call Whether the call was a business call or a private call The establish type (e.g. call forwarding) As an option, if set by the user before or during the call: the project (or account) number For more details on each parameter please refer to the application s online help. Further information on the above features and ISDN functions can also be found in the Glossary supplied with your communications system (provided as a PDF file on the accompanying CD-ROM). Data Analysis You can filter and analyse the recorded data with the help of various criteria which can be saved in a profile and used again at a later date. A profile defines which of the recorded data are to be output for a connection data record, e.g. start time and units, the user (who made or received the call), the network provider (used to make the call). Data Backups OpenCount can store up to 6000 data records and manage up to 20 different profiles. The connection data records and the profiles are stored together with the OpenCom 100 system configuration data. It is advisable to regularly make backups of these data using the SYS Configuration: Data Backups menu in the OpenCom 100 Configurator. For further information on data backups please refer to the menu s online help. Licence A licence is required to activate the OpenCount software package (see also Licensing: the Activation Procedure starting on page 5). The firmware for the OpenCom 100 includes an OpenCount demo licence which is valid for 60 days. Please contact your dealer or DeTeWe distributor if you wish to purchase a full version licence. 4 Overview OpenCount

7 External Call Charge Metering Software If required, an external call charge metering program may be used in addition to the OpenCount software package. The external call charge metering program must be installed on a computer connected to the COM port of the OpenCom 100. For further information please refer to the Mounting and Commissioning user guide and the online help. Scope of Delivery The following is included in the scope of delivery: the OpenCount software package licensing confirmation and the transaction record; the user guide entitled OpenCount 100 Connection Data Recording in the OpenCom 100 Communications System (provided as a PDF file on the OpenCom 100 CD-ROM). Licensing: the Activation Procedure You will need to obtain an activation key in order to configure and use the OpenCount package in your communications system. The licensing confirmation accompanying the software package contains the necessary details. 1. Please have the following information ready before generating the activation key: the licensing confirmation for OpenAttendant and the transaction record (TAD- ); the serial number of your OpenCom 100 (the serial number can be found in the System Info: Versions menu in the Configurator of the OpenCom 100 Web console); Internet access in order to generate the activation key (using the information referred to above) on the DeTeWe licence server. 2. Notes on how to generate the activation key can be found in the licensing confirmation. OpenCount Scope of Delivery 5

8 3. Enter the activation key for the OpenCount package in the SYS Configuration: Licences menu in the Configurator to activate the software package. 4. Save the configuration of the OpenCom 100. The activation key is stored in the configuration file. Profiles Creating Profiles Profiles are used to save criteria for analysing connection data, which enables you, for example, to make monthly comparisons of the data (see also Data Analysis starting on page 4). The OpenCom 100 can store and manage up to 20 different profiles. The criteria defined in each profile can be changed temporarily for individual analyses. The factory settings do not include any profiles. You can create profiles in the Web console of the OpenCom Log in and open the OpenCount application. 4. Enter the filter criteria for the new profile. For a detailed description of the filter criteria please refer to the dialogue s online help. 5. Save the profile with Apply. Profile Backups The profile configurations are stored together with the OpenCom 100 system configuration data. After creating a new profile or changing a profile s configuration you should save the current system configuration data (see also Data Backups starting on page 4). 2. 9 Connection Data Connection Data Backups The connection data are stored together with the OpenCom 100 system configuration data. In addition, you can export and save connection data on another storage medium or print them out for further analyses. Please note: Make sure to observe regulations regarding data protection when processing (displaying, exporting, printing, deleting) connection data! Displaying Connection Data Connection data are displayed in the form of a table on the screen. This output can be manually restricted to single data records or data fields. If you have selected a previously defined profile, the program will display only the connection data relevant to the profile configuration. If required, this output can also be restricted. You can export, print out or delete the displayed data. Exporting Connection Data Recorded connection data can be exported as files in the *.csv (Comma Separated Value) format. You can choose a platform (Windows, Unix, Mac) and define a suitable field separator (semicolon or tabulator). The data can also be exported and archived using the *.zip data compression format. Printing Connection Data Printed connection data are presented in tables similar to the screen display. Before printing you can define the number of lines to be printed per page; each line represents one data record. Every printed page will show the print date and page number. Deleting Connection Data In order to free up memory resources, it is good practice to delete connection data that is no longer needed. Apart from manual deletion, connection data records are automati- OpenCount Connection Data 7

10 cally overwritten when the maximum number of 6000 data records is reached; the oldest records are overwritten first. As soon as 80% of the maximum storage capacity is reached, the system will display a warning whenever you open the OpenCount application so that you can export older data if required. Product Information The OpenCount Web application is part of the OpenCom 100 communications system. The following product information applies to the OpenCom 100: CE Symbol The CE symbol on the product is a confirmation of its conformity with the technical guidelines for operating safety and electromagnetic compatibility valid at the time of licensing. Declaration of Conformity The communications system complies with the requirements of EU directive 99/5/EC.
