OUR EDUCATORS The Ayurvedic faculty at EQUALS comprises of Ayurvedic Practitioners, Doctors and Therapists from Adelaide, and Ashtavaidyans based in India. Ashtavaidyans are traditional Ayurvedic physicians from Kerala who are regarded as Masters of the 8 branches of Ayurvedic medicine. The Ashtavaidyans are our collaborative partners and have a genealogy going back to Vagbatha, who was one of the three classical writers of Ayurveda. The goal of our educators is to adhere to the original Ayurveda, without compromising on quality. 4 AYURVEDA THE ORIGINAL NATUROPATHY CLINICAL PLACEMENT & TREATMENT CENTRE, INDIA The origin of Naturopathy can be traced right back to the Vedic period wherein the dietary principles (Pathya and Ahara) and the principles of health (Swastha Vurtha) described in Ayurveda have branched out and developed in the form of modern day Naturopathy. Ayurveda has the most comprehensive knowledge of nutritional treatment of diseases involving energetics, right food combinations, frequency, right preparation, seasonal effects etc which all affect healing at the physical, mental and spiritual level. EQUALS Advanced Diploma students are offered the opportunity to participate in clinical placement at a leading Ayurvedic Hospital in India. * Clinical placement costs / travel / accommodation etc are at an additional cost. 5 AYURVEDA PROGRAM DELIVERY MODES QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRAMS AVAILABLE Each level is offered in a flexible learning mode which includes face to face and distance/self paced learning. The latter including hands-on training at the Adelaide based Institute and our program partner, Integrative Healing Centre, Aspects of Healing. Final year clinical placement includes an opportunity (at an additional cost) for an internship in India where students will work under the guidance of a senior physician in an Ayurvedic hospital. Flexible study can be very convenient if you need a flexible study schedule to accommodate work and family commitments or if you live a long way from the Institute. The Ayurvedic program can be started at any time and consists of approximately 10 hours home study per week. Homework is based on the textbooks and is generally due 20 days after receipt. There is also a 5 day block session of Hands on training at the Institute to cover areas of Ayurvedic Massage and 5 extra one day sessions spread through the course to cover Pulse diagnosis, Ayurvedic cooking, Supervised Student Clinic etc. EQUALS offers the following three levels of certification. 8 QUALIFICATIONS & PROGRAMS AVAILABLE Certificate IV in Massage Therapy HLT40307 This nationally recognised and industry accredited program has been designed to teach students the comprehensive practical and theoretical foundation of the many aspects of massage therapy, preparing students for clinical practice. This qualification is a pre-requisite for the Diploma of Remedial Massage. Diploma of Remedial Massage HLT50307 The nationally recognised and industry accredited Diploma covers the provision of remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care, women and children. Practitioners at this level may supervise other massage therapists.
