We teach part-time courses in Alternative Healing. We offer in house only programs - sorry no correspondence courses. The courses are taught by Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers, experienced instructors with over a decade of teaching experience and related work experience. The name Prairie Deva refers to our local earth spirits that help our flowers and plants to thrive; while, Phytotherapy refers to plant medicine. Our college is licensed by the federal government to issue tax receipts for our Certification Programs. Courses are run regularly and if a program does not fill up we keep a list of interested students, until the program is able to run. We then notify students of the dates. Therefore if you are interested in a course that is already in progress- don t despair just leave your name, phone number and a deposit and we will register you in the next session. Location to be announced AROMATHERAPY CERTIFICATE PROGRAM Welcome to the world of aromatherapy, where the sense of scent reigns supreme. Learn the properties and uses of over 100 essential oils. Discover how to use them for beauty, health and personal blending. The course cost is $ plus 7% GST. There will be over 70 hours of class time, as well as, 3 take home exams. Also required for the diploma is a 35 hour field placement and a thesis style document listing case studies and research. A diploma will be issued after completion of all 3 modules, the field placement and an approved thesis. A non-refundable deposit of $ is required five weeks prior to course start up. A tax receipt for this program will be issued. Courses will be taught by Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers, owners of Scents of Wonder Aromatherapy; and experienced aromatherapists with nearly 30 years combined experience. This course will help train health food store workers, vendors of essential oils and entrepreneurs who wish to formulate and sell their own line of aromatic products. It will provide career enhancement to those in the field of aesthetics, such as hair dressers and cosmetologists, and bring benefit to massage therapists. This program is a great adjunct therapy for wholistic practitioners looking to increase their income from a home based business.

Included will be a brief overview of the nervous, respiratory, circulatory, digestive, excretory and endocrine systems. The healing quality of oils related to the various systems will be discussed. June 13, 2005, 7:00-10:00 Client consultation: business practices, ethics, and setting up your own business. An introduction to flower essences and how they can be used with essential oils. THESIS- A 30 page, double spaced document done in thesis style - Title, statement of intent & outline. Some viable aspect of aromatherapy must be discussed. Topic must have approval before beginning. FIELD PLACEMENT- 1 Week of working in a health food store, beauty salon, perfumery, hospital or your own work situation if applicable; documentation required. 4 Location to be announced ADVANCED HERBOLOGY Certificate Program This course is designed to help train herbalists, health food store employees, health professionals and sales people in the natural food industry by increasing their existing knowledge of indigenous botanicals. The course is bio-regional in nature and emphasizes plants of the northern prairie and boreal forest ecosystems; as well as cultivated plants hardy to zone 3. The course is also geared to hands-on practical information that will help develop herbal skills, clinical approaches and up to date information from the world of herbal medicine. It is designed to stimulate, entertain and educate. Course cost- $ plus GST. A diploma is rewarded after completion of the course, a field placement and a thesis of a selected herbal nature. Please submit a non-refundable $ deposit along with a list of previous courses. Full refund if cancelled. The entire course has been designed and will be taught by Robert Dale Rogers. Robert has a back ground in botany and over 20 years experience in clinical herbology. He is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild, and teaches courses at various Colleges and Universities. Text Books required: Sundew and Moonwort Volumes 1-5 by Robert Dale Rogers. Oct. 26, 11:00a.m. 5:00 p.m. CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF HERBS AND THE NERVOUS SYSTEM Herbal-drug interactions. Insomnia, anxiety, depression and stress. Various neurological disorders including: sclerosis, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's and their treatment. Course 7 Sat. Nov. 29, :00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. THE DIGESTIVE SYSTEM & CONDITIONS OF THE SMALL AND LARGE INTESTINE Acute and chronic conditions of the stomach, pancreas and liver, including: heliobacteria, colitis, diabetes, hepatitis etc. Anti-inflammatory herbs and other relevant plants will also be discussed. Evening classes will be 3 hours long; Saturday classes will be about 6 hours in length. Required Text: Flower Essence Repertory- Katz & Kaminski. Courses will be taught by Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers, experienced wholistic trainers and practitioners. A certificate will be issued after completion of all 3 modules. A diploma will be issued after completion of all 3 modules, a thesis and a plant study. This course will help train health food store employees, naturopaths, herbalists, psychologists, nurses, and wholistic practitioners who wish to learn about flower essences. This would extend the range of services offered in private practice, how to introduce and offer them to clients, or assist customers in a health food store. 10 GENERAL INTEREST COURSES Robert and Laurie will tailor make general interest courses for interested groups in town and out of province. Cost- expenses plus $ per hour, or $ per day. Introductory Aromatherapy- Welcome to the world of aromatherapy where the sense of scent reigns supreme. We will cover topics such as: what is aromatherapy? We will discuss about 20 essential oils including how to use them for simple first aid, and hair and skin care. Safety precautions will also be mentioned. Taught by Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers Making Your Own Aromatic Products - Learn to make aromatic products- bath salts, face & hand creams etc. A great way to create Christmas gifts! Taught by Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers Flower Essences -Learn about flower essences, a subtle, vibrational therapy first recognized by Dr. Bach in the 1920's. We will discuss what the essences are, how to use them, how to determine which ones you need and how to make your own. We also provide training for store staff on English, Californian and Prairie Deva Essences. Taught by Robert Rogers and Laurie Szott-Rogers Intro Iridology- A short, intensive day designed to familiarize the student with basic concepts and theory of iris diagnosis. The course will discuss constitutional types, German sub-types, inflammatory response and genetic predispositions. 11 About Robert and Laurie Robert Dale Rogers is an herbalist who started his career with a science degree in botany from the U. of A. He has studied herbal medicine throughout the world, specializing in the Canadian prairies and boreal forest. He has written numerous books on the plants of the boreal forest. Robert has been involved in the health field for over 30 years, and a clinical herbal practice for 18 years. He has a passionate interest in indigenous plants and works as a consultant to various boards and industries advising growers and creating herbal formulas. Robert is an instructor of herbology, flower essences, iridology and aromatherapy. He is a professional member of the American Herbalist Guild. Robert with his wife Laurie is coowner of Self Heal Distributing, Scents of Wonder and Prairie Deva College. Laurie Szott-Rogers has worked with aromatherapy for over a decade creating products and making blends. Laurie has a strong background in metaphysics and social science research. Her emphasis is on blending of oils, dreamwork, shamanism and flower essences. Laurie teaches classes in aromatherapy, flower essences, and dreamwork. She does personal consultations to midwife individuals unraveling their dreams, as well as, soul retrieval work. Laurie along with her husband Robert, is co-owner of Self Heal Distributing, Scents of Wonder and Prairie Deva College.
