2 ABOUT INDO - UK HIPEC MEET 2014 The Indo-British Health Initiative (IBHI) is organising the Indo-UK HIPEC Meet, the most latest and advanced technique in the speciality in Chennai on 21st & 22nd November, Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) is a highly concentrated, heated chemotherapy treatment that is delivered directly to the abdomen during surgery. The procedure also improves drug absorption and effect with minimal exposure to the rest of the body. In this way, the normal side effects of chemotherapy can be avoided. HIPEC is a treatment option for people who have advanced surface spread of cancer within the abdomen, without disease involvement outside of the abdomen. BACKGROUND The Indo British Health Initiative aims to promote scientific collaboration between Health Care Personnel in the United Kingdom and India. It also seeks to facilitate more UK higher education partnerships and business opportunities for UK commercial firms in the healthcare sector in India. The IBHI foundation was mainly formed to facilitate and channelize these initiatives. IBHI was established in December, 2011 by Dr. Prithvi Mohandas (Founder and Secretary IBHI) RECENT EVENTS The IBHI held events focusing on Orthopaedics (Jan, 2012) and Gastroenterology (April, 2012), followed by a hugely successful Indo-UK Diabetes Summit, the largest ever bilateral healthcare event the UK has ever hosted with India in January 2013 and one of its kind oncology summit in Sep, This event was attended by leading faculty from both countries, two large UK trade delegations, comprising healthcare universities and private sector companies and about 600 delegates from all parts of India and UK. EVENT HIGHLIGHTS The next major event to be hosted by IBHI, i.e the Indo-UK HIPEC Meet will be held on 21st & 22nd Nov, 2014 at MIOT International in Chennai. As a prelude to this mega event and to encourage participation of young professionals with their fresh thoughts and innovative ideas to initiate constructive interaction IBHI has planned for GRAND ONCOLOGY QUIZ THE GREAT DEBATE
