Read the biographies of the Ecuadorian Composers and then answer the questions (10 points) Carlos Rubira Infante On September 16, 1921, Carlos Aurelio Rubira Infante, "The Cantautor of Equatoriality" was born in Guayaquil, one of the greatest Ecuadorian composers, called for creating emblematic themes for many cities and especially for each of the provinces of country, has created more than 600 songs among Pasillos, Pasacalles, Sanjuanitos, Valses, Himnos, Marches, Boleros, among others and continues writing without finding an impediment in the age. As a boy, when he lost his father, he devoted himself to various activities to support the home. He began to work in the mail as a postman, not knowing the streets of Guayaquil well, at night, he used to pedal. "In my free moments, I wrote or corrected songs," he recalls. At the age of 14 he wrote his first song, "Forgive me, little mother." To the 20 began to interpret its subjects in radio El Telégrafo. He then formed the duo Vera Santos-Rubira. "To some extent, Gonzalo Vera Santos was my teacher," he says. With Olimpo Cárdenas he formed "Los Porteños" and recorded the first record made entirely in Ecuador: the pasillo "In the distance" of Dr. Wenceslao Pareja, which he musicalized. He served as president of the Association of Artists of Guayas ASAG, Vice President of the Society of Authors and Composers of Ecuador SAYCE, Congressional deputy, among other positions.

2 Awards and Prizes In 1950 in Chile, invited by the Society of Musicians, he won the first prize in improvisation; in Bogotá in 1978 he received the plaque as "Folclorista de América". In 2008, he received the National Prize of Culture Eugenio Espejo, the highest recognition that the State to his most outstanding citizens, in this case, for his artistic contribution to national music. In May 2009 he was named Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Guayaquil. 3 Medardo Angel Silva Medardo Angel Silva was born on June 7, 1898 in Guayaquil-Ecuador. His parent's names were Enrique Silva and Mariana Rodas. He was only child. He descended from a musical family. His grandfather was a Spanish violinist and his father dedicated his life to music too. When he was four years old his father died. His family was very poor. After his father died. His mother bought a small house near the General Cemetery in Guayaquil. He witnessed funeral ceremonies every day; this sad events, and the economic difficulties he experienced with his mother, influenced his feelings and his personality. In his first poems, we are aware of his persistent thoughts about death. Medardo attended the school at la Filantropica, where poor children were educated. He attended Vicente Rocafuerte High School from the age of eleven until he was fourteen. Due to his mother economic situation, he abandoned high school, and started to work in printing stores, he worked as a teacher, and he was a journalist at one of the most important literary publication called 'EL TELEGRAFO," where he used the pseudonym JEAN D' AGREVE. After a lot of obstacles, his first poems were published when he was only sixteen years old. The most important writers and critics from Peru, Colombia, Argentina, Paris and Madrid praised and recognized his work as "A Master Work." He was known as "The Child Poet". From 1917, until his tragic dead in June 10, 1919, his image became solid and popular. The national magazine published his poems frequently. In 1918, he published his first book titled "THE TREE OF THE WELL AND THE EVIL" that contained Lyrical Poems. After that, was published "TRUMPET OF GOLD" that contained Epic Poems. In prose he wrote for the magazines "ATHENS", "RENAISSANCE" and "FATHERLAND." He wrote a novel "MARIA JESUS."

4 His fatal dead happened in the apogee of his life and his literary work. A shot ended his life in front of his girlfriend. Some writers said that it was an accident an others said it was a suicide. He was twenty-one years old when he died.
