Bovilis IBR Marker Live VACCINATION WITHOUT COMPLICATION

IBR UK overview Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) is one of the top cattle health and welfare concerns across GB 1. IBR can cause dramatic problems on some farms, but others may not even realise they have it until they start looking for it. In fact where IBR has been on a farm for a few years undetected, poor levels of performance may be accepted as normal whilst having a marked impact on the farm s profitability. But as many beef and dairy farmers have discovered, controlling IBR can significantly improve herd performance. 36.6M EST. COST OF IBR TO THE INDUSTRY 1 70% OF FARMERS REPORTED IBR AS A THREAT TO HERD PROFITABILITY IN % OF FARMERS REPORTED CONCURRENT USE OF VACCINES TO BE VERY VALUABLE IN

IBR is a disease in cattle caused by the Bovine Herpes Virus Type 1 (BoHV-1). The major clinical signs are: Runny nose Runny eyes Conjunctivitis Coughing Raised temperatures Milk drop Weight loss Abortion The disease is very common in the UK with nearly three-quarters of herds shown by data collected through MSD Animal Health s Expertis TM DairyCheck and BeefCheck Scheme to be exposed to the disease. In a 2013 survey 70% of farmers reported IBR as a disease that threatens their herd profitability 2.

How the virus spreads around your herd IBR is highly contagious and easily transmitted by aerosol, spreading the virus rapidly within a herd. Calves and adult cattle can be infected. Once infected they carry the virus for life (latent carriers). Virus spreads throughout the herd in a number of ways, but the main spreaders are newly infected animals. Latent carrier reactivation or newly infected animal Newly infected animal Non vaccinated animals Virus shedding Virus transmission May show no clinical disease Shows clinical signs of disease

SIMPLE CONVENIENT BOOSTING Bovilis BVD and Housing and turnout are two busy times of the year for many cattle farmers. With this in mind, MSD Animal Health has undertaken additional studies allowing: Bovilis IBR Marker Live and Bovilis BVD to be mixed and given in one Bovilis IBR Marker Live can now be administered in a single injection syringe as a booster dose Bovilis IBR Marker Live to be given at the same time as Bovilis Bovipast RSP, MSD Animal Health s unique combined bacterial and viral respiratory vaccine Easier and more flexible vaccination with a range of pack sizes Bovilis IBR Marker Live

How can I protect my stock? Breaking the cycle of infection is critical to stop the disease from spreading. Herd vaccination with a live vaccine is the most widely used 3 approach to help protect animals and control the spread of IBR: Induce herd immunity Reduce virus shedding Reduce clinical signs

Bovilis IBR Marker Live Bovilis IBR Marker Live is the UK s leading IBR vaccine 3 and provides straightforward whole herd vaccination, including pregnant animals. Single dose primary course* (including cattle at immediate risk of IBR) Quick onset of immunity: 4 days for intranasal and 14 days for intramuscular injection Single booster dose recommended at 6 months intervals to maintain effective herd immunity From 2 weeks of age

Bovilis IBR Marker Live Bovilis IBR Marker Live is the UK s leading IBR vaccine 3 and provides vaccination without complication: Ease of use Vaccination of all animals every 6 months means one protocol for all animals Bovilis IBR Marker Live and Bovilis BVD can be administered as a single injection Flexible range of vial sizes: 5, 10, 25, 50 dose * in cattle over 3 months of age booster of animals >15 months, previously vaccinated with both vaccines separately References: 1. CHAWG Annual Report MSD Animal Health Herd Health 2013 Survey. 3. Based on July MAT GfK sales data. Use medicines responsibly. Please visit for more information. Bovilis IBR Marker Live contains BHV-1 strain GK/D (ge ).Bovilis BVD is an inactivated vaccine containing 50 ELISA units (EU) and inducing at least 4.6 log2 VN units per dose of cytopathogenic BVD virus strain C86. Bovilis Bovipast RSP contains inactivated Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (strain EV908), Parainfluenza 3 virus (strain SF-4- Reisinger) and inactivated Mannheimia (Pasteurella) haemolytica (serotype A1) for the active immunisation of cattle against BRSV, Pi3 virus and M. haemolytica.
