10 1964 NATIONAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON IMMUNIZATION: 50 TH ANNIVERSARY MANDATE First, to advise and to make recommendations on immunizing agents to the Minister through the Dominion Council of Health, as requested by Council or its Chairman; and second, to propose to Council aspects of immunizing agents that appear to warrant special consideration Provide the Public Health Agency of Canada with ongoing and timely medical, scientific, and public health advice related to vaccines used for the prevention of disease / infection and certain prophylaxis agents (e.g. immunoglobulins) for humans. 10

27 NATIONAL IMMUNIZATION TECHNICAL ADVISORY GROUPS (NITAG) A NITAG is a technical resource providing guidance to national policy-makers and programme managers to enable them to make evidence-based immunization-related policy and programme decisions. (World Health Organization May 2014) WHO has placed a high priority on the development of national decision making process and capabilities. A major advantage of a NITAG is the credibility of the process...a standing NITAG will facilitate a more comprehensive and cohesive country immunization program perspective (Duclos P Vaccine 2010) NACI recognized globally as one of 15 well-established NITAGs 27
