2 1. Description of work Assoc. Prof. Dr. Matjaž Debevc from the University of Maribor, Slovenia, member of the WFD Expert Group made a presentation of the World Federation of the Deaf and work of the WFD Expert Group on the Accessibility at the VII International Congress Mediterranean without handicap (CMWH 2018), held at Hall of S. Francesco d Assisi in Koper, Slovenia, May 24-26, 2018 (Annex I). The main aim of the VII International Congress of Mediterranean without handicap, organised by Mediterraneo senza handicap from Rome, Italy, is to suggest a change in cultural awareness which today, appears more urgent than ever before. The congress revolved around the following three sessions: a) family and disability, b) education and disability and c) work, rehabilitation and disability. Examining the issues in the different contexts/areas of the family, education, work and rehabilitation, the following has been discussed: 1. the ways in which denial makes disability invisible; 2. the role of technology, in particular, how to take advantage of the opportunities it offers to improve the accessibility of the environment and the social participation of all individuals; 3. the contribution that technology offers and can offer in supporting processes of social inclusion; 4. first hand experiences of the visibility of disability in the age of technology following the narration of those who have been involved personally; 5. the research undertaken by the Center of Bioethics of the University of the Sacred Heart of Milan as a philosophical and anthropological framework within which reflections and experiences may be interpreted. Presentation of Prof. Dr. Matjaž Debevc was held at the second day of the conference at 15:00 in front of all attendances together (Annex II). Link to the organiser: 2. Deliverables The presentation has been prepared as Powerpoint Slides (Annex III) together with the content already prepared and presented before by Dr. Phil Harper (co-oordinator) and Beat Kleeb with some changes and addition, like the information about work at the University of Maribor. 3. Travel costs Travel costs for attending the international conference comprise travel, daily accommodation and registration costs and has been 310,00 EUR. All expenses have been covered by the University of Maribor, Slovenia. 1

Recognition of sign languages is critical in the movement for deaf rights. A key factor to accessibility is the right to sign language interpreting. 3 No education 83% 4 Deaf children are best instructed in subjects through national sign language, along with the written form of the national language. Thus a bilingual approach in education for deaf children is crucial. For deaf people, accessibility often rests upon the availability of sign language interpreters.
