10 Member of Executive Committee: NIDCD T-35 Training Grant for Short-term Summer Research Training for AuD Students ( ) Member of Executive Committee: NIDCD T-35 Training Grant Resubmission for Short-term Summer Research Training for AuD Students (Funded from ) Principal Investigator of grant (not funded) to Oticon Hearing Foundation: to fund new audiometric equipment for PACS Student Lab (Spring, 2013) Doctoral Dissertation: (Defended in March of 2005): A Comprehensive Vestibular Evaluation Battery for Hearing and Hearing-impaired Children, as partial fulfillment for Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences through Program in Audiology and Communication Sciences, Washington University, St. Louis, MO. Clinical Title and Responsibilities: Since being hired and up to the current time, my clinical responsibilities have involved management of all four years of Au.D. student practicum experiences. This involves serving as a liaison with over 100 practicum sites in-house, on campus, within our St. Louis Community and across the country. The number of students placed averages approximately 48 per year, including my efforts in placing our fourth year class in yearlong externships across the country. Over the past few years, we have enjoyed banner recruitment years with larger-than-expected Au.D. classes. My responsibilities are extensive, including coordination of curriculum with clinical practicum, overseeing first year student rotations within our in-house Clinic, visiting of sites, development of new sites in St. Louis and across the country, placement of second and third year students for 2-2 ½ day/week rotations (overseeing and coordination with Clinical Coordinator), developing assessment processes of preceptor and student, preceptor mentoring, year-long externship management of fourth year externs placed across the country, and many others. I have developed numerous new sites locally and nationally since being hired in 2005, gaining many new and varied experiences for our students. I have implemented extra observational opportunities to enhance student learning and remain on the cutting edge nationally regarding doctoral education in Audiology, including clinical education. Specifically, my leadership within AAA and ACAE have allowed me to remain current with regard to relevant educational issues. Our program serves as a national model related to many aspects, including PACS clinical education model and the exceptionally strong clinical foundation that students gain from Day One. I am proud of the fourth year externship model that we have developed, involving extensive mentoring and teamwork. Unlike with some other programs, students are not on their own to secure their own externships and all are typically placed by the beginning of spring semester. We also enjoy a very unique Capstone research model that helps the student become a life-long learner and evidence-based practitioner, as he or she integrates current research into daily practice.

11 Teaching Title and Responsibilities: As the Director of Audiology Studies and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology, I am responsible for curriculum development and for teaching at least two courses per semester. I also co-teach one post-session course at the beginning of the summer. I help make resources available to the students, such as Otology Grand Rounds, Audiology Grand Rounds, Brown Bag Research Seminars and observations/guest lectures with other medical school departments. I have taught the following courses, with bolded ones being those currently taught: Bibliography: Washington University: Introduction to Audiology Hearing Evaluation and Diagnosis I Clinical Audiology I Clinical Audiology II Hearing Disorders Advanced Hearing Evaluation and Diagnosis Assessment and Management of Vestibular Disorders Clinical Practicum Placement Fourth Year Clinical Externship Courses fall and spring semesters Introduction to Health Professions Course (co-taught on Danforth Campus) Saint Louis University: Hearing Science Speech and Hearing Science Introduction to Audiology Aural Rehabilitation Advanced Audiology Annual Guest Lectures in Introduction to Communication Disorders class Textbooks and Textbook Contributions in Press: Valente M, Valente LM.
