2 1. Acquisition of theoretical knowledge of selected topics of pediatric dentistry. 2. Acquisition of ability to perform independently preventive and therapeutic procedures in patients at different stages of development. 3. Initial requirements 1. Theoretical knowledge of ethiopathogenesis and epidemiology of carious diseases in children and adolescents, the knowledge of risks factors of caries in the young population. 2. Practical knowledge of methods of caries prevention of patients at different stages of development. 4. Knows the correctness of human's mental development and family role in the healing process. Recognizes the mechanisms of coping with stress and its role in etiopathogenesis and disease progression. Knows the therapeutic methods of limiting and tolerating pain and reducing anxiety and stress. Builds a confident atmosphere throughout the diagnostic process and treatment. Uses basic psychological motivation and supportive interventions. Conducts a medical interview with the patient or his/her family. Performs a physical examination of the patient. Explains to the patient the essence of his ailments, establishes a method of treatment confirmed by the informed consent of the patient and prognosis. Applies appropriate medication during and after dental surgery to relieve pain and anxiety. The student knows the principles of prophylactic and therapeutic treatments in masticatory diseases at different stages of development. Knows the symptoms, course, and behavior of certain oral, head, and neck diseases, including age groups. 3 Knows the rules of treatment for pulp disease and mineralized tooth tissues and tooth and facial injuries. Determines the indications for performing a particular dental treatment. The student knows the viral, bacterial and fungal flora of the oral cavity and its significance. Keeps current patient records, lists referrals for research or specialist stomatological and general medical treatment. Selects and performs appropriate tests indicating the number of caries-forming bacteria in the mouth. The student knows the role and importance of body fluids, including saliva. Knows the rules of metabolism and nutrition. Knows the genus and species and the structure of viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites, their biological features and mechanisms of pathogenesis; Interprets the results of microbiological, serological and antibiotic studies. Selects and performs proper tests showing the abundance of bacteria in body fluids. The student knows the rules for local anesthesia of the chewing organs. Knows the morphology of the dental cavities and the principles of endodontic treatment and instrumentation. Knows the principles of radiological diagnosis. Interprets additional test results. The student knows the rules for dealing with apical disorders. Knows and understands the pathomechanism of the impact of oral diseases on his general state of health. Treats acute and chronic dental and non-invasive inflammatory processes of soft tissues of the oral cavity, periodontium and jaw bones. Examination of the child's oral cavity and evaluation of the development of the dentition of the chewing organ (physiological and morphological standard in various stages of development, I and II teething) S2. Behavioral methods of shaping the child's dental posture. Pharmacological sedation, plate sedation, local and general anesthesia. S3. Dealing with decay according to the level of risk. Caries diagnosis. Choice of treatment methods and therapeutics. S4. Treatment techniques: infiltration, PRR I, PRR II, ART, principles of preparation of cavities in milk and solid teeth with incomplete root development. S5. Carrying out simple extraction of milk teeth. 7. Evaluation criteria Form of receiving credit in a subject: Assessment by the teacher: perform the required prophylaxis and treatment, conducting medical records and attitudes towards patients and their caregivers Attendance (one absence allowed). Proper performance of the procedures Presence on all seminars and exercises is mandatory, in cases of justified absences the date and form of the credit test is set by the teaching assistant. The first and second term tests are held in written form. If a student fails to obtain the credit in two terms he/she may be granted a third term (board term) by the Head of the Department.
