3 October 5 th October 7 th, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Bratislava, Slovakia 3 Welcome Message Dear Colleagues, We are delighted to welcome you in the beautiful city of Bratislava in Slovakia at 6 th Central European Congress on Obesity (CECON) and 15 th Slovak Congress on Obesity CECON 2017 is being held in early October (5 th 7 th ), when we can expect nice, sunny beginning of autumn in Bratislava, which we sometimes call Indian summer. We are very excited to host this important conference in Bratislava. We hope to follow in the successful footsteps of the Central European region meetings in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic (2008); Budapest, Hungary (2009, 2015); Olsztyn, Poland (2011) and Cluj-Napoca, Romania (2013). In 2017, CECON will offer excellent science and networking opportunities for all the colleagues from Central Europe and beyond. The International Scientific and Local Organizing Committees and the Boards of Obesitology Section of the Slovakian Diabetes Society have strived to create excellent scientific programme, integrating state-of-the-art research and current treatment modalities, including lifestyle interventions, metabolic surgery and pharmacotherapy. Meeting will provide maximum opportunity for interaction between delegates, experts and re searchers to present their findings and to develop collaborations, hopefully leading to new knowledge helpful to the patients. The program was designed to provide diversity of insights for clinicians, health care practitioners, nutritionists, surgeons, psychologists, physical activity professionals, nurses, pharmacists and researchers. We have created an attractive and diverse scientific programme but discussions could surely continue while enjoying coffee & vitamin breaks, lunches and receptions. You should not miss the opportunity to cruise the beautiful Danube river and to enjoy the dinner at the Bratislava Castle Restaurant with an amazing view. Bratislava and its surroundings provide amazing places to visit, majestic churches, charming burgher houses and elegant palaces, tiny squares, romantic little streets, and towering over all this, the stately Castle, visible from afar. 6 6 6 th Central European Congress on Obesity (CECON) and 15 th Slovak Congress on Obesity 2017 Awards Honorary membership ot the Obesitology Section Slovakian Diabetes Society Hermann Toplak Professor Hermann Toplak graduating with a M.D. from the University of Graz in 1984, then he went into military training with aeromedicine before becoming a resident in Laboratory Medicine, at the Metabolism Unit of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Graz. He then was a resident in Surgery and Internal Medicine in the General Hospital of Rottenmann, Austria as well as a Resident at the Metabolism Unit of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Berne, Switzerland. Since 1988 he is working in the department of Medicine at the Karl-Franzens-University, Graz, where in 1990 he became the Head of the Metabolism Unit. Since October 1997 he is also a Specialist for Endocrinology and Metabolism and Associate Professor of Medicine. Dr. Toplak is in charge of the entire Medical Curriculum in Internal medicine at the Medical University Graz and holds a full professorship for continuing professional development (CPD) and life long learning. He is a member of various national and international associations such as the Austrian Obesity Association, where he was President from and , and the Austrian Diabetic Association, where he is a Council Member since 2005 and the President from Since 2001 he is the Austrian representative in the General Council of IASO where he is also involved in the Education Management Task Force and from 2005 was Regional Vice President for Middle Europe and then from 2009 he was the Secretary of EASO, from 2012 he was President-Elect and since 2015 he is President of EASO, he also has been a long standing and member of the Obesity Management Task Force (OMTF) and running a EASO-COM. Dana Műllerová Dana Mullerova, M.D., Ph.D., is Head of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and Vice Dean for Faculty Development at the Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen. Educated at Charles University, she is specialised in internal medicine, her research interests comprise the prevention and treatment of NCD, especially obesity, and its relation to nutrition and obesogens. Dr. Mullerova is an Assoc. Prof in both: Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine and Department of Internal Medicine I, the Division of Clinical Nutrition, the Obesity Treatment Centre at Faculty hospital in Pilsen. She works in European Platform on Diet, Physical activity and Health, during period 2014 to 2015 as a representative of EASO, currently as a Czech Republic MS representative. She is a member of Prevention and Public Health Task Force of EASO and she has served on committees in Czech Republic that have formulated recommendation or guidelines on obesity prevention and treatment. She as a senior with her colleagues developed the Czech National Action plan on Healthy Diet and Obesity Prevention for , under National Strategy Health Currently she is Vice-president Middle Region of EASO and a past Vice-president of the Czech Association for the Study of Obesity. Vojtěch Hainer Career of Vojtech Hainer was associated with the Departments of Medicine at The First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague over more than thirty years. He focused his interest mainly on endocrinology and obesity. In 1988 he founded the first Obesity Unit in former Czechoslovakia. During the period , he acted as a director of the Institute of Endocrinology in Prague. In 1993, he co-founded the Czech Society for the Study of Obesity, of which he was the first president. His extensive international responsibilities included the Obesity Management Task Force of the European Association for the Study of Obesity /EASO/ (2001 ongoing, chairman ) and the Executive Committee of the European Association for the Study of Obesity ( , president: ). He has been a member of the Editorial Boards of several medical journals. He participated in organizing the European Congresses on Obesity /ECO/ (member of international scientific committees, co-president of the 13 th ECO in 2004), the Congresses on Controversies to Consensus in Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension (CODHy), Central European

He was an author of several textbooks on obesity and co-author of the Guidelines on Obesity Management in Europe. He has published over 200 papers in medical journals, 145 of them appeared on PubMed. His research topics included: very low energy diets, factors affecting outcomes of obesity treatment, genetic and environmental aspects of weight change in obesity, eating behavior and health risks, pathogenesis and health risks of obesity in adolescence, evaluation of anti-obesity drugs, adenovirus infection and obesity, hormonal and metabolic response to bariatric surgery. Bronze medal of the Slovakian Diabetes Society Ľubomíra Fábryová Ľubomíra Fábryová, MD, PhD., has graduated from Medical Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava (Slovakia) and completed residency training in 4th Dept. of Internal Medicine Comenius University (internal medicine and diabetology, metabolic disorders and nutrition). In 2008 she received PhD in Internal Medicine from Medical Faculty of Comenius University. At present time she is a head of a metabolic center MetabolKLINIK in Bratislava, Department for Diabetology and Metabolic Diseases (focused on management of diabetic patients, overweight and obese patients and high risk patients with familiar hypercholesterolaemia). Rich is also the publishing and editorial activities, as well as work in the editorial boards of journals. She has published more than 200 papers in domestic and foreign medical journals. She is the author of chapters in the monograph General endocrinology, editor and author of chapters in the monograph Clinical Obesitology and many others. She has served as national, principal coordinator and scientific guarant of slovakian research projects and studies (WHO MED PED project, Screening of serious dyslipidaemias in quadragerian Slovak population (2003, 2006), AtheroEduc project (2009, 2010), Atherogenic dyslipidemia II in Diabetes Mellitus II survey in Slovak Republic (2011, 2012), ObezitaEDUC project ( ) and as a national coordinator and principal investigator on a number of multicenter clinical studies. Dr. Fábryová is teaching at Dept. for diabetology, metabolic disorders and nutrition of Slovak Medical University and Medical Faculty Comenius University in Bratislava, she is member of PhD Study Board in the field of internal medicine at Medical Faculty of Comenius University in Bratislava. She has lectured on metabolic disorders topics (diabetes, hyperlipoproteinaemias and obesity). Dr. Fábryová is a member of the Executive Committee of Slovakian Diabetes Society, scientific secretary and since 2014 president of the Obesity section Slovakian Diabetes Society. For many years she has been active in the Slovak Association of Atherosclerosis (scientific secretary, president, past president). She is a founder of a School Lipidolo gy. She is a member of many national and international societes (Slovak Medical Society, Slovak Cardiology Society, EASD, EAS, IAS, EASO, WOF) and works as a member of an international organization R3i (Residual Risk Reduction Initiative). Sečanský Award Imrich Sečanský (September 6 th, 1914 Budapest October 29 th, 2013 Bratislava) After his studies at the Medical Faculty at Charles University in Prague and at the Slovak University in Bratislava he began to work as a physician at the Sanatorium of the Workers Social Insurance Company in Slovakia. During the post-war period, he understood that nutrition is important part of the therapy. He therefore established a nutritional system in hospitals driven by the principle that energy content and specific food components should be indicated specifically according to the patient`s needs (disease character and stage). Moreover, he stands behind the canteen alimentation system for schools, factories and public sector in the post-war Slovakia. Imrich Sečanský was the founder and the director of the State Institute for the Nutrition of People & Dietetics, the founder of a School for Dietary Nursing, the co-founder of the very first Hotel School in Piešťany and the first dietary restaurant in Czechoslovakia. From 1953 to 1994 he worked as an internal medicine specialist

8 8 6 th Central European Congress on Obesity (CECON) and 15 th Slovak Congress on Obesity 2017 and diabetologist at the National Health Institute in Bratislava. He actively worked as a physician until he was 82 years old. His research and publishing activities in the field of internal medicine, diabetology, dietetics and nutrition were rich and abundant. He focused on these issues in more than 20 monographic and collective writings, several of which were translated into Czech, Polish and Russian. His popular articles have been published since 1930 in major Slovak newspapers (Práca, Pravda, Smena, Večerník) and magazines (DAV, Pero, Slovenka, Slovensko, Život). He is also the author of smemoir literature, Spomienky a vyznania lekára. Polstoročie slovenskej internej medicíny, for which he was awarded the Egon Erwin Kisch prize (1998). He received many awards for his scientific and publishing activities. In 2013, he was inducted to the Slovak Medical Society Hall of Fame. Obesitology Section of the Slovakian Diabetes Society is awarding the Dr. Imrich Sečanský Award on the occasion of the Slovak Obesitology Congress for an invaluable contribution to the field of obesitology at both national and international level. The first holder of the Sečanský Award A/prof Boris Krahulec, M.D., PhD. was the first chairman of the Obesitology Section of the Slovak Diabetology Society ( ) and the founder of Slovak Obesitology Congress. In 2016, the Sečanský Award was presented to A/prof. Igo Kajaba, MD, PhD., a specialist in nutrition, internal medicine, gastroenterology and clinical dietology. This year Sečanský Award is to be presented to the professor Iwar Klimeš, MD., DSc.., for his life-time scientific achievements in the field of clinical and molecular pathophysiology and genetics of obesity, metabolic and endocrine diseases. Iwar Klimeš Professor Iwar Klimeš, professor of pathophysiology, endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism at the Comenius University School of Medicine in Bratislava has spent four decades in basic and clinical research in integrated physiology, genetics, diagnostics and treatment of diabetes, metabolic and endocrine diseases. He worked at the Slovak Academy of Sciences, where he served as a director of the Institute of Experimental Endocrinology (currently part of the Biomedical Research Center) from 2008 until During his research career he worked at several excellent scientific institutions all over the world including NIDDKD-NIH, Phoenix, Arizona, USA; Department of Medicine, Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, USA; Medlantic Research Institute, Washington, DC, USA; University of Leicester, UK and Garvan Research Institute, Sydney, Australia. Professor Klimeš established the Laboratory of Diabetes and Metabolic Disorders at Slovak Academy of Sciences and DIABGENE, the first DNA diagnostic laboratory for monogenic diabetes and obesity in Slovakia. His professional interests reached for many pathophysiological components leading to type 2 diabetes mellitus, such as obesity, impaired lipid metabolism and insulin resistance and included molecular mechanisms and important clinical aspects of the aforementioned pathophysiologies. In the last decade professor Klimeš has focused on the causal mechanisms explaining the various monogenic forms of diabetes mellitus and severe syndromic obesity. His main research achievements include the first pathophysiological explanation of intensified insulin treatment in patients with type 2. diabetes, his laboratory also participated to the breakthrough international study providing a proof of concept for the possibility of life-changing pharmacological treatment in patients with specific form of monogenic diabetes associated with defect in insulin secretion due to specific mutations in potassium channel of the B-cells of the pancreatic islets. In Slovakia, he created new research school aimed at elucidating the role of genetics and diet in the pathophysiology of diabetes and metabolic disorders. Professor Klimeš was the editor of several international journals including Diabetologia, Archives of Biochemistry and Physiology and Diabetes and Stoffwechsel. He served as international panel expert evaluator for European Commission. Moreover, he served as president of the Slovak Endocrine Society, chairmen of the Slovak Research Professor Board and vice-president of the Slovakian Diabetes Society. His scientific work led to more than 200 in extenso publications, he is author or co-author of 6 monographs, the editor of 4 textbooks on diabetes, endocrinology and obesity, and he was invited as a plenary speaker to more than 20 international scientific meetings.

10 10 6 th Central European Congress on Obesity (CECON) and 15 th Slovak Congress on Obesity 2017 Congress Organizers Obesitology Section of the Slovakian Diabetes Society Slovakian Diabetes Society Biomedical Research Center Slovak Academy of Sciences About Obesitology Section of the Slovakian Diabetes Society Obesitology Section of Slovakian Diabetes Society (OS SDS) was founded in 2002 with the aim to promote research and dissemination of knowledge in the field of obesity and related aspects relevant to society and scientific community (epidemiology, nutrition, physical activity, management including behaviour and comorbidities). The main task of the OS SDS is to bring together physicians, healthcare professionals and scientists involved in obesity and to represent their professional interests with the ultimate goal to generate new knowledge and to support innovative treatment strategies for patients with obesity and comorbidities ( Currently OS SDS has 157 active members. OS SDS presents, publishes and promotes practical guidelines, suggestions and expert-opinions arising from the clinical and basic obesitology science, bringing in the cutting-edge diagnostic, therapeutic and scientific practices, discussing ethical issues, legal norms and further education in the field of obesitology. OS SDS organizes scientific meetings and encourages the participation of its members at scientific meetings at home and abroad (EASO, CECON, World Obesity Federation meetings). OS SDS informs its members about the latest diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, collaborates with scientific and health organizations both in Slovakia and abroad and supports collaborative efforts and international exchange of experts. OS SDS supports research in obesitology and proposes awards to SDS for achievements in the field of obesitology. Since its foundation in 2002 OS SDS organizes annual Slovak Congress on Obesity with international participation, since 2015 separate blocks of lectures for nurses and nutrition assistants were introduced. In 2018, block of lectures dedicated to patients organizations and support will be launched for the first time. In 2009, OS SDS coordinated publication of The Guidelines for the obesity management in adults and contributed to The Interdisciplinary European Guidelines for Metabolic Surgery. 42 renowned experts contributed to monography entitled Clinical Obesitology (2013) the first handbook on Obesity published in Slovakia. Members of OS-SDS actively contribute to Obesity EDUC program presenting major issues of Obesity management and research to medical professional community on the pages of Via Practica (the journal for General Practitioners). State-of-the-art obesitology knowledge dissemination is also provided in collaboration with professional journals Forum Diabetologicum and Bedeker Zdravia as well as with the e-learning portal enabling an access to state-of-the-art educational presentations for physicians. OS SDS is an active member of Slovak Medical Society and Slovak Diabetes Society. Members of OS SDS actively participated in creating the scientific program of 5 th CECON 2015 in Budapest. Slovakian Diabetes Society and Obesitology Section of Slovakian Diabetes Society ratified and endorsed the DSS-II consensus statements and guidelines at April 10 th OS SDS have prepared various activities contributing to the European Obesity Day by establishing 1 st and 2 nd Slovak Obesity Day (2016, 2017) was organized in several cities in Slovakia. The 3 rd European and Slovak Obesity Day is scheduled for May 19 th, Today we are very proud to welcome you on 6 th Central European Congress on Obesity and 15 th Slovak Congress on Obesity in Bratislava.

Ak sa vyžaduje zmena dávkovania, titrácia sa má vykonať s jednotlivými zložkami. Starší pacienti a pacienti so zlyhaním obličiek: časté monitorovanie kreatinínu a draslíka. Klírens kreatinínu (Clcr) < 60 ml/min: nevhodné. Porucha funkcie pečene: môže sa používať s opatrnosťou. Lipertance je kontraindikovaný u pacientov s aktívnym ochorením pečene. Pediatrická populácia: nemá sa používať. KONTRAINDIKÁCIE*: Precitlivenosť na liečivo alebo na ktorýkoľvek iný inhibítor ACE, alebo deriváty dihydropyridínu, alebo statín, alebo na ktorúkoľvek z pomocných látok, aktívne ochorenie pečene alebo neobjasnené pretrvávajúce zvýšenia sérových transamináz prekračujúce 3-násobok hornej hranice normálu, počas gravidity, počas dojčenia a u žien v reprodukčnom veku, ktoré nepoužívajú vhodné antikoncepčné opatrenia (pozri časť GRAVIDITA* a LAKTÁCIA*), ťažká hypotenzia, šok (vrátane kardiogénneho šoku), obštrukcia prietoku ľavej komory (napr. hypertrofická obštrukčná kardiomyopatia a vysoký stupeň aortálnej stenózy), hemodynamicky nestabilné srdcové zlyhávanie po akútnom infarkte myokardu, anamnéza angioedému (Quinckeho edém) súvisiaceho s predchádzajúcou liečbou inhibítorom ACE, hereditárny alebo idiopatický angioedém, súbežné použitie s liekmi obsahujúcimi aliskiren u pacientov s diabetom mellitus alebo poruchou funkcie obličiek (GFR < 60 ml/min/1,73 m 2 ) (pozri časť INTERAKCIE*). UPOZORNENIA*: Osobitné upozornenia a opatrenia pre používanie: Vplyv na pečeň: testy funkcie pečene sa majú vykonávať pravidelne a v prípade zvýšenia hladín transamináz sa majú pacienti monitorovať až do odstránenia tohto zvýšenia. Zastaviť liečbu, ak sa vyskytne žltačka alebo výrazné zvýšenie hepatálnych enzýmov (sérové transaminázy prekračujúce 3-násobok hornej hladiny normálu (ULN)) a u pacientov s aktívnym ochorením pečene. Používať s opatrnosťou u pacientov s poškodením funkcie pečene, ktorí konzumujú alkohol a/alebo majú ochorenie pečene v anamnéze. Vplyv na kostrový sval: zastaviť liečbu, ak zvýšenie hladín kreatínkinázy (CK) > 10 x ULN alebo ak sa objavia svalové symptómy so zvýšením CK hladín > 5 x ULN alebo pri podozrení na rabdomyolýzu. S opatrnosťou je potrebné postupovať, keď sa Lipertance používa s niektorými liekmi, ktoré môžu zvýšiť plazmatickú koncentráciu atorvastatínu, a tým riziko rabdomyolýzy, ako sú silné inhibítory CYP3A4 alebo transportné proteíny (napr. cyklosporín, ketokonazol, ritonavir...). Intersticiálne ochorenie pľúc: ak je podozrenie, liečba sa má prerušiť. Diabetes mellitus: U diabetických pacientov sa má kontrola glykémie starostlivo monitorovať počas prvého mesiaca liečby. Srdcové zlyhávanie: používať s opatrnosťou. Hypotenzia: monitorovať krvný tlak, renálnu funkciu a draslík u pacientov s vysokým rizikom symptomatickej hypotenzie (hypovolémia alebo závažná renín-dependentná hypertenzia) alebo so symptomatickým srdcovým zlyhávaním (s alebo bez renálnej nedostatočnosti), alebo s ischemickou chorobou srdca alebo cerebrovaskulárnym ochorením. Prechodná hypotenzná odpoveď nie je kontraindikáciou na podávanie ďalších dávok, ktoré je možné podať zvyčajne bez ťažkostí, keď sa krvný tlak zvýši po zväčšení objemu. Stenóza aortálnej a mitrálnej chlopne/ hypertrofická kardiomyopatia: používať s opatrnosťou a pozri časť KONTRAINDIKÁCIE*. Transplantácia obličky: nie sú skúsenosti po nedávnej transplantácii. Porucha funkcie obličiek: monitorovať draslík a kreatinín; individuálna titrácia dávky s jednotlivými zložkami sa odporúča ak Clcr < 60 ml/min. U pacientov so stenózou renálnej artérie môže byť zvýšená hladina urey v krvi a kreatinínu; s renovaskulárnou hypertenziou, riziko ťažkej hypotenzie a renálnej insuficiencie. Amlodipín sa môže používať v normálnych dávkach u pacientov so zlyhaním obličiek. Amlodipín nie je dialyzovateľný. Hemodyalizovaní pacienti: používať s opatrnosťou. Precitlivenosť/Angioedém: zastaviť liečbu a monitorovať až do úplného vymiznutia symptómov. Angioedém spojený s edémom hrtana môže byť fatálny. Súbežné použitie inhibítorov mtor: zvýšené riziko angioedému**. Anafylaktoidné reakcie počas aferézy lipoproteínov s nízkou hustotou (LDL): zriedkavo, pacienti zaznamenali život ohrozujúce anafylaktoidné reakcie, dočasne ukončiť liečbu pred aferézou. Anafylaktoidné reakcie počas desenzibilizácie: dočasne ukončiť podávanie pred liečbou. Tieto reakcie sa po náhodnej opätovnej expozícii objavili znova. Neutropénia/Agranulocytóza/Trombocytopénia/Anémia: používať s najvyššou opatrnosťou u pacientov s kolagénovým vaskulárnym ochorením, imunosupresívnou liečbou, liečbou s alopurinolom alebo prokaínamidom, odporúča sa pravidelne monitorovať počet leukocytov. Rasa: perindopril môže byť menej účinný a spôsobuje vyššie percento angioedému u pacientov čiernej rasy ako u pacientov iných rás. Kašeľ: ustupuje po ukončení liečby. Operácia/anestézia: zastaviť liečbu jeden deň pred operáciou. Hyperkaliémia: časté monitorovanie draslíka v krvi v prípade renálnej insuficiencie, zhoršenia renálnej funkcie, vek (> 70 rokov), diabetes mellitus, dehydratácie, akútnej srdcovej dekompenzácie, metabolickej acidózy a súbežného používania draslík šetriacich diuretík a doplnkov draslíka alebo soľných náhrad s obsahom draslíka. Kombinácia s lítiom: neodporúča sa. Duálna inhibícia systému renín-angiotenzín-aldosterón (RAAS): súbežné použitie inhibítorov ACE, blokátorov receptorov angiotenzínu II alebo aliskirenu zvyšuje riziko hypotenzie, hyperkaliémie a zníženej funkcie obličiek (vrátane akútneho zlyhania obličiek). Duálna inhibícia RAAS sa preto neodporúča. Inhibítory ACE a blokátory receptorov angiotenzínu II sa nemajú súbežne používať u pacientov s diabetickou nefropatiou. Galaktózová intolerancia/glukózo-galaktózová malabsorpcia/lapónsky deficit laktázy: nemá sa užívať. INTERAKCIE*: Kontraindikované: aliskiren (u pacientov s diabetom mellitus alebo poruchou funkcie obličiek). Neodporúča sa: silné inhibítory CYP3A4, aliskiren, súčasná liečba s inhibítormi ACE a blokátorom receptora angiotenzínu, estramustín, lítium, draslík šetriace diuretiká (napr. triamterén, amilorid, eplerenón, spironolaktón), soli draslíka, dantrolén (infúzia), grapefruit alebo grapefruitový džús. S opatrnosťou: induktory CYP3A4, digoxín, ezetimib, kyselina fusidová, gemfibrozil/deriváty kyseliny fibrovej, inhibítory transportných proteínov, warfarín, antidiabetiká (inzulíny, perorálne antidiabetiká), baklofén, nesteroidné protizápalové lieky (NSAID) (vrátane aspirínu 3 g/deň), racekadotril, inhibítory mtor (napr. sirolimus, everolimus, temsirolimus)**, kolchicín, kolestipol, perorálna antikoncepcia, gliptíny (linagliptín, saxagliptín, sitagliptín, vildagliptín), sympatomimetiká, tricyklické antidepresíva/antipsychotiká/anestetiká, zlato, digoxín, atorvastatín, warfarín alebo cyklosporín, takrolimus, antihypertenzíva a vazodilatanciá. GRAVIDITA A LAKTÁCIA*: Lipertance je kontraindikovaný počas gravidity a laktácie. FERTILITA*: Reverzibilné biochemické zmeny spermií u niektorých pacientov liečených blokátormi kalciového kanálu. Neznáme: imunitne sprostredkovaná nekrotizujúca myopatia, extrapyramidálna porucha (extrapyramidálny syndróm). PREDÁVKOVANIE*.
