50 WELLNESS CENTRE The Wellness Centre will assist athletes in attaining and maintaining Recovery, Rejuvenation and Reflection to reach optimal health in preparation for Peak Performance.
51 WELLNESS Recovery is part of training, yet requires quality rest, nutrition and repair. Planning and maximizing recovery techniques have been proven to reduce injury, tension and fatigue. Rejuvenation is the effort that we put into maintaining a youthful and vibrant body and spirit for active living. Rejuvenation includes body work like yoga, stretching and pilates. Reflection is the thoughtful contemplated of oneself in order to focus and have purposeful direction. Reflection can be done by oneself through meditation or reading or it may be interactive with a counsellor or companion. Within the Wellness Centre, we will provide services and supplies that facilitate the attainment of well being.

55 WELLNESS CENTRE Post Beijing evaluation: Was visually pleasing and many athletes used the services The Wellness Concept was supported by athletes, coaches and mission staff and should continue to develop through the next Games It is estimated that approximately 125 visits The most highly used areas were the Power Nap and Meditation Rooms followed by the Yoga/ Pilates rooms It is recommended that a Wellness Centre staff be on site during the hours of 9 12pm, 4 10pm for coordination of services, approachable discussion and suggestions, equipment sign out, beverage bar and maintenance of atmosphere We believe the concept gave a psychological advantage to the team;
