1 ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL LES MILLS PUMP PRO TEAM Becoming a LES MILLS PUMP instructor is no joke. The trainers who lead you through each workout are worldclass fitness professionals who teach BODYPUMP and other Les Mills programs around the globe. They ve spent hundreds of hours educating themselves on the mechanics of the body, as well as studying and training in BODYPUMP. Plus they have incredible motivational skills that push you to take your body to the limit, beyond what you think it can handle. I love lifting weights, and I wanted to show people it s possible to do something they never thought they could! I ve always loved the shoulder tracks, mainly the Mac Raise. Combined with the music and choreography, it s such a powerful exercise. When someone tells me they re thinking about trying a class, I tell them to get in there and try it. I was teaching Les Mills BODY JAM and BODYCOMBAT already, and I wanted to fulfill my passion for resistance training. I truly love working out, and BODYPUMP took my love for weight training and combined that with my love for training others. I always dreamed of becoming a Les Mills National trainer and knew BODYPUMP was the way to go. It turned into a complete obsession for me as I made new friends, clients, and coworkers who shared the same passion for music and exercise. My triceps and arms in general are very strong, so when I educate participants on the importance of proper execution and safety, they always look at my arms first. Then they actively listen. It s all about the participants. You have to set specific goals and be very detailed about them. Then you have to continuously follow up with your goals and be flexible enough to adjust and tweak what s not working. SHELDON MCBEE LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA Squat. When choosing physical activity, it s crucial to do something that you really enjoy. Choose a path that s achievable so you re satisfied spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Move every day! Always stay consistent with exercise and nutrition rather than starting and stopping. Think long term. What can you realistically keep doing for the next 10 years? We created BODYPUMP to make weight training more accessible and fun, and I created BODYFLOW to do the same for yoga so more people would experience its wonderful benefits. I added tai chi as a way to calm and focus people fast, and strong core work because this is fundamental to functional training for life. What is your favorite LeS mills FLOW Sun Salutations, because of the beautiful combination of breath and movement. It s the best expression of yoga for me. Be consistent, just like brushing your teeth. We don t think about whether we should brush our teeth every day, and the same philosophy should apply to fitness.
