ADIRONDACK NCRS CHAPTER OFFICERS JOHN DERGOSITS Chairman BOB POLLACK Vice Chairman WINTER 2010/2011 MIKE WILSON Treasurer CHAIRMAN S NOTES - John Dergosits TOM & ANNE FLOWERS Secretary BRIAN CANTELE Judging Chairman 863 Turnbull Rd. Delanson, NY (518) dergosits1@gmail.com First I want to welcome our newest member Donald Todd from Walton, New York. I hope we will see Donald at our coming events in A few days ago we held our Chapter's annual election of officers for the 2011 calendar year. The slate of candidates, who ran unopposed were voted in by the members present. I will be Chairman for the coming year. Bob Pollack will be Vice- Chairman, Treasurer will be Mike Wilson and Tom and Anne Flowers will be the Chapter secretary(s). At our December meeting we also voted on the proposed by-law changes I sent to the membership by about a month and a half ago. We have made some minor grammatical changes and will be sending them on the NCRS National for their blessing. A copy of the changes approved by the membership is later in this newsletter. We will be holding our annual Chapter meeting/dinner on January 16th at Carney's where we will continue our planning for 2011 and appoint chapter members to serve on the Board of Directors. We will be filling the positions of Judging Chairman, Assistant Judging Chairman, Membership Chairman, Activities Chairman, Webmaster and Newsletter Editor. If you are interested in working with the other Chapter Officers in one of these positions please let me know. A copy of the dinner announcement is also following in this newsletter. Page 1 of 11

2010 was a very good year for the Chapter. We completed all of the requirements to be a National "Top Flight Chapter" again. We should receive our banner at the NCRS National convention this summer. Thank you to all that planned, organized and attended our Chapter events. You may have noticed we will be having our Chapter meet in early June at George s Collision in Cohoes. George has been kind enough to host our meet again for We are going to try to have our meet earlier this year so we do not conflict with other events. Please plan to attend. We always can use all different levels of judges. I think I have said enough, I hope to see you at our annual dinner and some of our many events in the coming year. Best Regards, John Dergosits JUDGING CHAIRMAN - Brian Cantele Here goes Wow, it s seems hard to believe that it s gone already. Seems like yesterday that we were all worried about our computers and what would happen at Y2K. Anyway, I want to thank everyone that has helped me to conduct the numerous events of The use of facilities, cars, tools, and man-power makes my job possible. The latest event was held at Mike Wilson s. For those that didn t make it, you missed out on a good time. Hopefully it was educational for some, as well. While the event had little to do with judging, I think it was quite informative on a technical level. Since the body of Mike s 69 as permanently married to the chassis, he asked that I come back and re-fire the engine and set the timing. Upon getting it started again, I was quickly reminded of how loud that thing is. Mike s got some pretty open exhaust on his car, so you ll definitely know he s coming. Also, I should mention that Mike has his barn fully insulated and heated now. It makes for very cozy working conditions. Page 2 of 11

Besides that, we had several parts on hand from Steve Wittek s 64 that needed restoration. So, our attention turned to the removal of control arm and trailing arm bushings. If you ve ever tried this, I m sure you ve given this project the obligatory serenade of explicatives. But we got Steve going in the right direction to get him through this less-than-fun task. He also had the group tackle the rear spindle nuts. This turned out to be a three man job. Good thing for long breaker bars! We must have looked like alligator hunters, with one holding the trailing arm in place, another keeping the spindle from turning and yours truly going to town on a big breaker bar to break loose the big nut. In the end it was 2-0 as the spindle nuts gave in. As usual, the end of the year brings our annual dinner and the opportunity to warm up a bit at the Florida Regional. This popular event draws a big crowd and if you ve never been, it s a good excuse to head to FL in January. Also, plans are well underway for the coming years events. Our judging event this year went off quite smoothly. Our plan is to keep it at this more manageable size. George, of George s Collision, has already told us that we re welcome back in As always, I m looking for input on the next judging school and/or tech session. If you have a thought about this, let me know. Brian Cantele, Judging Chairman ACTIVITIES CHAIRMAN Steve Wittek Looking in the rear view mirror. Hard to believe it s December already! I can say we had a good year starting with our Annual dinner meeting in January. Our tech sessions held at Johns Dergosits and Mike Wilson s were well attended and very informative. Mike s 1969 Coupe is really coming along great and soon he will be enjoying our chapter cruises with us. I have enjoyed watching this project from the start. Mike s 69 has been the subject of many tech sessions and I for one learned a lot along the way. Sharing our knowledge about our favorite hobby by helping others is what makes our Chapter great. Page 3 of 11

Our Picnic was hosted by Bill and Gail Hans this year. Many thanks for their hospitality. The weather was just great and the food was even better! We even had a mini tech session with a lesson in ignition timing on Bob Pollack s 63 Roadster. Carlisle was also a great event with perfect weather the entire event! Many of us found some good deals and sold off some extra parts! Our Chapter meet was hosted by Georges Collision and it went off without a hitch. Special thanks to all members who were able to attend and Judge. We also owe a big thanks to our tabulators who worked the event. We had a great turnout of C1, C3 and C4 cars that showed up for judging and display. Brian Cantele shared his knowledge under the hood of a John Dergosits C4 this year for our judging school. We also had the opportunity to see the work in progress on George s 66 Coupe and Jim Weirs C2. Hope to see both cars join us on a cruise next year! Our attendance for 2010 events has been very good and in 2011 we hope to make it even better. Your input on the events is always welcome. We had some schedule changes this year which forced us to shuffle the dates of our meet and cruise times around. Unfortunately that resulted in some unexpected cancellations for the Fall Cruise. Many of us worked on the Cruise planning and it was a disappointment to cancel it. Our route spotters let us know of road construction that none of us would have wanted to drive through. We learn from our mistakes so with our 2011 events penciled into the new calendar we hope to avoid any cancellations for next year. Page 4 of 11

The 2011 calendar has been posted on the webpage so please check it often for updates! The Spring Breakout Cruise is already in the planning stages! This year were planning a southern route in mind. We hope this will make it possible for some of our distant Chapter member to enjoy the cruise with us. I ve spoken with the Cruise committee chair, Mike Wilson and he has some great ideas in the works. Annual Dinner meeting is January 16 th. Besides all the great food we will have a general membership meeting and installation of officers. Hope to see everyone there to kick off the new year! I m very excited looking forward to a great Be sure to set the Adirondack Chapter events as a favorite web site so you can check the calendar often.
