2 Purpose of Building Partnerships 1. School and Church visibility in community 2. Building relationships with business leaders 3. Building bridges to other schools 4. Becoming invested in their needs

3 I m swamped, I should do what? How? When? Building community relationships might increase the anxiety of an overwhelmed principal. Webster defines community as: a group of people with a common interest within a larger society. Relationships begin when a connection is made that is YOU! Partnerships exist when individuals or organizations come together with the intent of reaching a common goal also called collaboration. A great method of developing important contacts for you or a representative is participating with local groups. Chamber of Commerce is a great start.

4 Get out of your office!! Even if it is 1 hour a week

5 -Some people become involved in organizations because they believe in the cause. -However, many people become involved in a community group or organization, just because they have a relationship with another person who is already involved. -We need relationships in order to win allies to our cause.

7 Relationships Local high School partnerships Local Libraries visit the school and introduce library to students Open Houses Partner with local Early Childhood Centers. Work with each other until all are full! Have center stage and present your school at a monthly Chamber of Commerce Meeting Have a table at Chamber of Commerce Meetings (1 per year) Attend another Community s Chamber of Commerce luncheons Bring left-over food from school events to local fire houses

9 Local high Schools Be Present Be Seen Take students to theater and concert productions Take 7-8 graders to a Friday night football game Take 7-8 Basketball team to a home basketball game Set meetings with High School Guidance offices Be on High School mailing list for all Freshman Material Attend all articulation meetings Attend as many trainings as you can if local Jr. High schools are invited, invite yourself!

11 Small Group Platinum Networking Associates, LTD Group of 30 business owners. We meet each Tuesday for Breakfast where we highlight our businesses and give each other references. Platinum members are now my best friends! Every single person has been in my school or my house. Half of them bring a foursome to the golf outing. Many have come to our Pack-the-Gym night, Dinner Auction, Taste of Trinity, and Howl-at-the Moon Concert. All have presented at Trinity for Career Day AMS Wellness gave seminars at our PTL Meetings

12 Quid Pro Quo Partnerships that are established have a Quid Pro Quo aspect to them. I like to call it a WIN-WIN-WIN situation. I ask ALL contacts, business partners, and family to attend or sponsor any or all of our biggest fundraisers. When the partner has an open house or a fundraiser for there favorite charity I go in support of them. By doing so I actually meet more Partners. AMS Wellness a group of Psychiatrists and Social Workers spoke at PTL meeting for FREE. They provided a free personal consultation. If services are needed then they charge. They do accept insurance. Many of our students are getting services (at a discounted rate) IT S RELATIONAL
