3 Speakers Jessica Setnick, MS, RD, CEDRD, envisions a world where no one is ashamed to talk about their eating issues. After recovering from her own eating disorder, Jessica became a registered dietitian and spent 15 years helping others find relief from their dysfunctional eating behaviors. She shared what she learned and the methods she developed, including The Universal Precautions for Dietitians and Bio-Behavioral Nutrition Counseling, at conferences worldwide and through The Eating Disorders Clinical Pocket Guide, The American Dietetic Association Pocket Guide to Eating Disorders, and Eating Disorders Boot Camp. In 2011, Jessica co-founded IFEDD, the International Federation of Eating Disorder Dietitians, to provide a voice for dietitians in the field and to provide better access to nutrition counseling for individuals with eating disorders. In 2013, she closed her private practice and began speaking and writing full-time to fulfill her mission of educating health professionals about our current understanding of eating disorders and how best to help those suffering. As one of fewer than 100 Certified Eating Disorder Dietitians in the country, Jessica is also a Certified CEDRD Supervisor, supporting dietitians working toward this credential, and she mentors the next generation of eating disorder professionals as a preceptor for interns and through EatingDisorderJobs.com. Jessica has received many professional honors, such as Today s Dietitian Top 10 Dietitians Making a Difference, the inaugural Texas Dietetic Association Outstanding Nutrition Educator Award, and the inaugural Hallmark Alumni Award for Career Achievement from Texas Woman s University. In 2014, Jessica joined Remuda Ranch Eating Disorder Treatment Center in Wickenburg, Arizona, as a Senior Fellow. It is through the generous support of Remuda Ranch that Jessica joins us at the Healthy Lifestyles Conference. Food Fairy Tales: Eating Happily Ever After: Obesity and eating disorders are considered opposites, yet their causes and consequences are mostly the same. Our weight loss at any cost mentality causes secret binge eating, substance abuse, bullying, chronic illness, and crippling shame. Jessica Setnick shares her vision of how we can change - both personally and professionally to allow our culture to heal from both. Words That Hurt, Word That Heal: Recent research shows that overweight children and teens are at high risk of developing eating disorders in their quest to lose weight at any cost. Children of every size are cautioned to watch their weight, slightly overweight children are told to diet, and only seriously underweight teens are even suspected of needing treatment for eating disorders. If we are serious as a nation in improving the health of the next generation, we cannot ignore eating disorders in our quest to end obesity.

4 Speakers John Weaver, Psy.D. is a Licensed Psychologist who received his Doctor of Psychology degree from the Wisconsin School of Professional Psychology. John designed The Healthy Thinking Initiative and has coordinated the efforts of the development team. He has taught mindfulness to groups and individuals since 1997 and has been engaged in his own mindfulness work since He works both as a clinical psychologist and a business consultant with more than 20 years of practical experience with organizations, individuals and groups. He is the author of multiple articles for business publications including Surviving Real World Stress, Remedies for Workplace Violence, and Failures of a Perfect Leader and he is co-founder and owner of Psychology for Business, bringing applied psychology to business and industry. He is past president of the Wisconsin Psychological Association. He is a member of the steering committee for the Psychology in the Workplace for the American Psychological Association. He is an accomplished professional speaker who has delivered more than 50 presentations across the US, and he recently published a new book, The Prevention of Depression: A Missing Piece in Wellness and a training manual, The Healthy Thinking Program. Wellness and the Brain: We all would be better Wellness Professionals if we were also neuroscientists. In case that is not in your plans, this session will provide you with an opportunity to be exposed to the newest research about the healthy brain. Learn what happens in the mind that results in so many people have a hard time caring for their health. Discover the ways the mind responds differently when they become happier and more positive about their life. Learn how to make changes in mindset that make it easier for potential participants in your program to be willing to take action to change their lifestyle. Explore ways to work with participants to foster changes that will last a lifetime. Understand how to promote systematic approaches to healthier brain functioning.

5 Break Out Session Speakers Christopher Morris, Chef of Nutrition Services, Great River Health Systems, Burlington Iowa. Christopher will present the Quality Diet. Learn what is a Quality Calorie. This presentation will include a tasting menu and demonstrate reducing the portion size of meats and moving produce to the center of the plate. It will look at increasing whole grain options and decreasing refined carbohydrates. Sylvia Thomas is a 2005 graduate of SIYI (Southern Institute of Yoga Instructors) from Nashville, Tennessee. She is certified in the Iyengar method of yoga which works with the alignment and movement of the body. In 2008 she traveled to Pune, India to study with BKS Iyengar for a month. She had the privilege of studying with BKS Iyengar in therapeutic movement classes. She continues to travel for continuing education in intensive studies and workshops. These qualities are the factors that can be nurtured within every personality to develop stress hardiness. The qualities are 1) commitment, 2) challenge, 3) control, and 4) caring.
