4 Reflections from the Chair Greetings this day, This has been a very productive year in ministry for Hope for Healing.Org. As you will see in the annual report we have been fruitful in the work of ministry. I am excited about what God has done through the ministry and am even more excited about what He holds for the future of this great organization. Our greatest challenge is and will continue to be to recruit dedicated people to help carry out the work of this ministry. We are fortunate that our executive director has so far been able to meet the demands of administration, outreach and ministry with the help of a handful of devoted volunteers. Yet as Hope for Healing.Org grows so too does our need for paid staff. To further our mission we will be aggressively seeking sources of funding and personnel in addition to strengthening our volunteer pool. The unfilled void in the lives of survivors unable to obtain support is huge. With the hard work of our staff and volunteers and by the grace of God we will continue to reach out to offer hope to survivors of sexual and domestic violence around the world and at home. 5 Where we re going. Where we ve been. Can you see the steady stream of personal supplies going out our doors that we distribute to area shelters every day? As you came to the conference held in our own building did you notice the Hope Quilt on the wall between the pantry and clothing closets? Perhaps you even brought something for one of these projects when you came? Wait a minute, you say. These services aren t offered. You re right. They are not yet. With your help, we can make this vision become reality. Since the beginning of Hope for Healing.Org in 2002 we ve made tremendous progress in reaching victims of sexual and domestic violence. I am happy to report that in the fiscal year we made even greater strides. With the help you gave we accomplished the following: Over 6,000,000 hits counting page and messages views our site was accessed. National exposure on The Ricki Lake Show by our founder and Board Chair. 35 women learned self-defense maneuvers through a free class offered through Midnight Blue Karate in Henderson, NC by owners Steve and Kimberly Gupton. 250 Purple Ribbon Cards were distributed during Domestic Violence Month. 150 Teal Ribbon Cards were distributed during Sexual Assault Month 12 times our founder carried our message to churches reaching 16 churches over 3 states: North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia 3 times we were on the front page newspapers. twice our founder appeared at the local middle school twice we attended regional ministers conferences twice special chats were hosted with authors of books potentially helpful to survivors! Beth Peterson author of, Ultra-Authoritarian Personalities and Dawn Lyons, author of The Dry Well. once we were on the front page of a special newspaper supplement a radio show was recorded featuring our founder and volunteer Rev. Kathy Sikes a community prayer service was offered during Domestic Violence Month Weekly support groups met in our Henderson, NC office on Tuesday nights Once-monthly support group meetings are held in New Sandy Creek Baptist Church in Henderson, NC a TV station featured us on their website 911 was sent to the home of a chat room member threatening suicide in Australia. ~4~ In fiscal year we made even greater strides.

6 We have many other accomplishments also. Among them are: Developing Steps to Healing Support Groups for areas not served by crisis centers. Opening our first office in Henderson, NC. Beginning our Lending Library. Added a Guestmap to the website which with messages from people in 33 countries We applied for Tax Exempt Status with the IRS. Completed incorporation paperwork for North Carolina. Introduced and developed the following brochures: o Myths and Facts about Sexual Assault o Helping Clergy Respond o Things Not to Say o The Work We Do Introduced the following booklets: o My Prayer Journal o Does God Still Love Me o Affirmations For Survivors Oasis Churches: Teaching congregations to respond. Began developing the program: o Oasis Churches teaching churches to better respond to victims within their congregations. Introduced the Hope Quilt to give survivors a voice of encouragement from other survivors. Introduced our first E-book: Does God Still Love Me? Received permission from Adobe to include their software on our e-book CD s. Welcomed some terrific online volunteers from the United States, United Kingdom and Australia. Received 37 first-time members. Partnered with Amazon.Com for book sales and credit card donations. Began requiring online and offline volunteers to send in an application, verify name, address & participate in training in groups or one-on-one. Partnered with The Dry Well author Dawn Lyons to receive half the profits of each book sold through our website. All this was done on a very limited budget! We are reaching out and making a difference like never before. Budget cuts are forcing many crisis centers across the country to discontinue services. This leaves more survivors turning to us for help. Daily, over 16,000 hits are recorded by our chats, lists and main website. The first day the Ricki Lake Show aired we received almost 10,000 message views in our Rape Recovery Forum on Delphi alone. ~5~

7 This amount of traffic puts us in the distinctive position of representing Christ to a hurting world in a unique way. No other organization comes close to matching what we do for survivors of sexual or domestic violence. Together, we are making a difference. Here is an excerpt from an we ve recently received: I am able to tell people that I wanted to love so much but couldn't open up to because I was too scared to. I now love them. All because you gave me the courage that I had but was just afraid to show and let out. Thank you for saving my life. K. In our expenses totaled $2,596 We received monetary donations of $2,629 Leaving surplus funds of: $ % of the money we received went to provide services! The remaining 21% paid mandatory registration and filing fees as shown below.
