3 TO OUR DONORS To Our Donors Jesus Christ is the foundation upon which the HWHL ministry operates in Liberia. The last twelve months have posed challenges as well as wonderful opportunities for HWHL and the people of Liberia. Through it all, Dr. Chris Hena has seen tremendous growth and effectiveness in the HWHL ministry through the services, staff and communities we serve. HWHL SERVICES After being closed for the last 6 months of 2014, HWHL began seeing patients again in 2015 and we increased our service area from 33 to 35 communities. HWHL and the University of Virginia have established the only telemedicine program in Liberia. This partnership provided consultation for challenging wound care cases. Construction of HWHL s new Medical Center has provided job training and job opportunities for many community members in various construction vocations. HWHL expanded community services projects through our sewing school, community garden, and after school program for children. HWHL STAFF HWHL staff increased from 11 to 16 in The HWHL staff is made up of young people whose gifts of healing and educating are instrumental in our ministry. HWHL staff learned leadership, integrity, honesty, character, dependability, strong work ethics and compassion to serve others. Page 1

4 TO OUR DONORS HWHL COMMUNITY Dr. Chis saw an increase in the number of community members and patients who are reading their bibles, participating in HWHL daily devotion and bible studies, and attending community worship services. There have been dramatic changes in the attitudes and behaviors of community members with respect to their healthcare and personal lives. Increases in personal responsibility have been reflected in the decreased number of mortality and morbidity of many diseases. LOOKING AHEAD Our partnership with Building Goodness Foundation (BGF), a design and construction consultant non-profit organization from Charlottesville, VA provided an exciting opportunity for HWHL. BGF brought experience and world-class quality design and construction standards to our project. Completion is targeted for HWHL s Medical Center will house waiting space, medical and dental examination rooms, space to accommodate over-night stays for those unable to travel, a pharmacy, labs/imaging, medical supply storage, classrooms, and a state-of-the-art telemedicine exam room. In addition to medical facilities, sufficient space is planned to accommodate office space, chapel services, team meeting rooms, an educational center, and storage for purchased and donated materials and supplies. The Medical Center will also serve as the operating headquarters for HWHL. We are looking forward to what God has planned for HWHL in Thank you for your continued prayers and support! 5 2015 CLINIC STATISTICS 2015 Clinic Statistics Over the last three years HWHL has seen significant increases in the number of community members and patients who are receiving services through the HWHL clinic services as well as through our health education outreach visits. We are doing everything we can to ensure that health in Kakata is maintained-babies are delivered safely, children are vaccinated, mothers learn about nutrition and sanitation, and the sick receive the care they need. Ebola crushed the spirits of the people. They come to talk to Dr. Chris, they bring their children, they trust her to be there listening, teaching, caring.
