2 In order to formulate a clear, stable, liquid cleaning product, containing nonionic surfactants, chelating agents and other electrolytes, a hydrotrope is often required. Many hydrotropes are well-known, however, by choosing the right multifunctional hydrotrope, it is possible to have hydrotropic properties and also improved cleaning efficiency on different kinds of soil, corrosion protection, low foam etc. Selecting the right nonionic surfactant is the first important choice. Choosing the wrong hydrotrope could lead to the selected properties of the nonionic surfactant being destroyed, whereas with the correct combination it is possible to produce extremely efficient water based cleaning product. 3 Hydrotropic effect in high concentrated liquid cleaners % Berol 26 X% Na 3 NTA (93%) Y% Hydrotrope* YCE Na 3 NTA, % and AG 622 are the most efficient hydrotropes for high concentrated liquid cleaners. Foaming in Vindan Temp: 2 o C Conc: 5 g/l Water hardness: 4 o dh 8 4 5% Berol 26 TKPP Metasilicate 7% YCE YJH-4 and give low foam when combined with a low foaming nonionic surfactant. If extremely low foam is required, Berol 84 can be used instead of Berol 26 in the formulation. Oct 9 (8) 3

5 Disinfectant cleaner By choosing a cationic hydrotrope, such as, it is possible to add a cationic biocide like Arquad 2.1 to the cleaning product.
