We offer this intensive pre conference workshop for those aiming to maximize their individual outcome of the main conference. 5 Montreal, 2018 A Message from the Conference Director Dear Colleagues, On behalf of the organizing committee, I am delighted to welcome you to the Educational Workshop of the Sixth Biennial Conference on Resting State and Brain Connectivity. This year, the conference is hosted by the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital (the MNI or the Neuro). The MNI/Neuro was established in 1934 by the worldrenowned neurosurgeon and visionary leader in neuroscience, Dr. Wilder Penfield. It is currently directed by Dr. Guy Rouleau, a worldrenowned expert in genetics of neurological diseases. This year, the course is presented by the International Society for Brain Connectivity in partnership with the Quebec Bio Imaging Network. We thank the Quebec Bio Imaging Network for its cooperation and sponsorship of the course. 6 Resting State and Brain Connectivity A Message from the Educational Workshop Organizer Dear Colleagues, This course is designed to teach users how to design, analyze, and interpret multimodal brain connectivity. Due to its increasing popularity, a large number of investigators are collecting data using multiple modalities data from healthy and clinical subjects during rest. In the first part of the course, users will be taught historical perspective, how to design an experiment using multiple modalities. In the second part, pre processing and post processing steps their relative advantages and disadvantages will be demonstrated. In the third part, complimentary methods using DTI, data integration with other clinical and connectivity measures will be shown. Finally, machine learning methods and deep learning methods and its applications to brain connectivity will be discussed. I sincerely believe that the next few days promise to be particularly inspiring, as several of the best and most renowned researchers in the field of brain connectivity will teach their latest methodological approaches, and will share their results related to applications to the study of both healthy and diseased brains. The QBIN is particularly proud to be associated with the 2 day course on Basic and Advanced Methods in Brain Connectivity, as this educational activity meets one of the main objectives and missions of the QBIN: furthering the training of students, post doctoral fellows, highly qualified personnel and researchers in all domains of bio imaging.
