2 A report on Women s Day Celebration DONA 2K17 8th March, 2017 Organized By Women Development Cell BVM Engineering College Vallabh Vidyanagar

3 Objectives of the program: Gone are those days when women were supposed to do the things told to them by someone else. Donas of 2k17 are independent, steadfast, self-aware, confident and responsible for their rights etc. Standing in the era of human rights movement with the ambition to develop a better civil society, the need for women empowerment is getting realized more than ever. It has widely been admitted that improving the status of women in the male dominated society may solve several problems, such as meeting the basic needs of family, overall social advancement and adding quality resources that may bridge the gap between dimensions of sociocultural existence. The main objective of the program is encouraging women to develop entrepreneurial skills, which in turn, would make them self-dependent and educating women according to the professional requirement and encourage them to grow further in life. About Program: The program was held on 8 th March, 2017 with the support of Principal Dr. Indrajit Patel, Convener Dr. Trupti Desai & Co-convener Prof. Veena Chauhan, Coordinators Prof. Zankhana Shah, Prof. Ripal Patel, Prof. Palak Patel, Prof.Anita Bhatt, Mrs.Bindu Raval and team member Ms. Shweta Thakker (Ladies Representative) and all lady faculties of BVM. The program began with the Registration process on 8th march, 09:00 am. Total 240 participants (Girls students and Lady Faculty members) registered for the DONA 2K17 program. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Indrajit Patel, Principal BVM Engineering College, Dr. Darshak Thakore, TEQIP coordinator, Dr. Trupti Desai, Convener of women Development cell BVM, Dr. Rama Srivastava, Keynote Speaker, Prof. Zankhana H Shah, Head, IT Department and Ms. Shweta Thakkar, LR, on 8 th August, 2016 at 09:30 AM.

6 About the Events: The Chalk Talk Two Expert talk from two eminent Personalities were organized. Dr. Rama Shrivastava, Gynecologist, Garima Hospital, Anand was invited to deliver key note speech on women health awareness. She gave an interactive talk about usual health problems found in teenagers and ladies above 35 years age. Another speaker, Mrs. Nikita Thakkar delivered a talk about carrier opportunities for women in today s era.

7 The Vogue The scenario was mesmerizing one, where every Dona participant had to show their caliber in groups. Different team presented their idea on the theme Be Bold for Change in very splendid manner. More than 50 Girls participated in this Event. The two young fashion designers, Mrs. Charvi Patel and Mrs. Riddhi Jay Mehta, Riddhz Creation, were invited for judging the event. 3 teams were declared as winners based on the various criteria like, theme, costume and attitude. The winners were awarded cash prize, certificate and trophy. Glimpses:

8 Cibo Corte From this event, Girls were given opportunity to develop their Organizing Skill, Management skill as well as Presentation skill. More than fifteen well maintained food-court caters to the student, staff and visitors. For those who wanted a change, a variety of hygienic food facilities were made available on the campus. Food Court, served delicious vegetarian food at reasonable price. The winners were selected based on different criteria like, hygiene, food arrangement, selling and 3 teams were awarded cash prizes, certificates and trophy. Dr. Viraj Roghelia and Ms. Hiral Padia rendered the service as jury. Brew it Brew it, a mocktail and salad competition was organized to encourage students and faculties to explore their culinary skills and creativity. Main purpose of this event was to provide a competitive platform to the budding engineers to showcase their talent and skills at various levels of crafts and techniques.

9 15 teams of girls students and 2 teams of lady faculty members participated in this event. Ms. Shivangi Shukla Bhavsar and Ms. Margi Mehta rendered their service as Jury. The winners were selected based on various criteria like decoration, nutrition, taste etc. 3 teams were awarded cash prizes, certificates and trophy. Glimpses:
