Harmful in contact with skin. Toxic if swallowed. Very toxic by inhalation. Causes burns. May cause sensitization by inhalation and skin contact. May cause cancer. May cause heritable genetic damage. Contact with combustible material may cause fire. Toxic : danger of serious damage to health by prolonged exposure through inhalation. May impair fertility. May cause harm to the unborn child. Very toxic to aquatic organisms, may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment. Potential Health Effects Eye: Causes eye burns. May cause blindness. May cause redness, pain, blurred vision and possible eye damage Skin: Harmful if absorbed through the skin. Causes skin burns. May cause skin sensitization, an allergic reaction, which becomes evident upon re-exposure to this material. May cause deep, penetrating ulcers of the skin. May cause dermatitis. Ingestion: May be fatal if swallowed. Poison by ingestion. May cause circulatory system failure. May cause burns to the digestive tract. May cause serious burns of the mouth and esophagus. Inhalation: May cause asthmatic attacks due to allergic sensitization of the respiratory tract. May cause ulceration and perforation of the nasal septum if inhaled in excessive quantities. May cause severe irritation of the respiratory tract with sore throat, coughing, shortness of breath and delayed lung edema. May cause burns to the respiratory tract. Inhalation may be fatal as a result of spasm, inflammation, edema of the larynx and bronchi, chemical pneumonitis and pulmonary edema. Toxic if inhaled. May cause burning sensation, coughing, wheezing, laryngitis, shortness of breath, headache, nausea, and vomiting. May cause respiratory sensitization. Chronic: Prolonged or repeated inhalation may cause nosebleeds, nasal congestion, erosion of the teeth, perforation of the nasal septum, chest pain and bronchitis. Prolonged or repeated eye contact may cause conjunctivitis. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause sensitization dermatitis and possible destruction and/or ulceration. 2 Section 4 - First Aid Measures Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid immediately. Skin: Get medical aid immediately. Immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Get medical aid immediately. Wash mouth out with water. Inhalation: Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Notes to Physician: Treat symptomatically and supportively. Section 5 - Fire Fighting Measures General Information: Wear appropriate protective clothing to prevent contact with skin and eyes. Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) to prevent contact with thermal decomposition products. Oxidizer. Greatly increases the burning rate of combustible materials. This material is an explosion hazard when exposed to heat, mechanical shock, or friction. Explosive decomposition may occur under fire conditions. Extinguishing Media: Use water only! Do NOT use carbon dioxide or dry chemical. Do NOT use alcohol foams. Section 6 - Accidental Release Measures General Information: Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in Section 8. Spills/Leaks: Avoid runoff into storm sewers and ditches which lead to waterways. Avoid generating dusty conditions. Carefully scoop up and place into appropriate disposal container. Isolate area and deny entry. Section 7 - Handling and Storage Handling: Use with adequate ventilation. Do not breathe dust, vapor, mist, or gas. Do not get in eyes, on skin, or on clothing. Empty containers retain product residue, (liquid and/or vapor), and can be dangerous. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Avoid contact with clothing and other combustible materials. Use only in a chemical fume hood. Storage: Keep away from sources of ignition. Do not store near combustible materials. Store in a tightly closed container. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area away from incompatible substances. Heat can cause thermal decomposition and pressure build-up inside containers. Material can explode if dry.
