2 September 18, 2013 Etiology, Diagnosis, and Treatment of Childhood Disorders: ADD, ODD, and Conduct Disorder This course gives an overview of various causes, diagnostic criteria, and treatment approaches for childhood / adolescent clinical disorders. The proper understanding of etiology and differential diagnostic criteria are essential to the development of an effective treatment for childhood disorders. This workshop also examines the use of psychotherapeutic games in the unraveling problems as well as uncovering practical solutions to emotional and behavioral difficulties. The progression from ADHD to ODD to Conduct Disorder is examined in the context of identity formation processes. This course clarifies the distinctions between hyperactivity, impulsivity, and inattention for a diagnosis of ADHD. The development of Oppositional Defiant Disorder is examined in the context of child / adolescent identity development and resolution of internal / external conflicts. The lack of such resolution can be a significant precursor to conduct disorder. September 25, 2013 Etiology, Diagnosis and Treatment of Major Depression and Dipolar Disorder October 2, 2013 Understanding Evidence Based Practice: Implications for Clinicians, Supervisors, and Administrators in Social Service October 16, 2013 Understanding the Sexual Response Cycle and Its Relationship to Sex Addiction This workshop examines in detail the sexual response cycle as originally described by Masters and Johnson.
