3 The European Society for Photodynamic Therapy The purpose of the founding of the European Society for Photodynamic Therapy in Dermatology (EURO-PDT) was to create a communication platform for researchers and clinicians working with fluorescence diagnosis and photodynamic therapy and to promote international cooperation in this field in Europe. We hope that it will serve to shorten the communication lines and time between research results and clinical application and promote cross fertilization between PDT specialists in Europe. The annual congresses serve to fulfil our intentions by having presentations of advances in research and clinical application and progress and thereby informing researchers and clinicians from all over Europe of the latest developments in the field.
