8 Ohio hopes to avoid costly, unfruitful cancer cluster investigations State plans to focus more on prevention ASSOCIATED PRESS COLUMBUS The head of Ohio s cancer-control program wants to focus on cancer prevention and early detection and try to avoid using resources to investigate suspected cancer clusters. Investigations of geographic locations that report higher-thanexpected numbers of cancer cases take time and money but don t often yield results that meet high expectations, said Robert Indian, head of the state s cancer-control program at the Ohio Department of Health. Indian said he thinks residents will be better served by the state focusing on cancer prevention, The Columbus Dispatch reported Monday.
