Good progress is being made and currently the RBSP is structured with focus on four components (Diagnostic, Surveillance, Prevention and Control, Legislation) with in total nine component objectives (outcomes). The RBSP was re-drafted with feedback by the trainers and now finalized Follow up Backstopping support for finalization of RBSP (already 3 draft submitted) immunogenicity study to assess the quality of the FMD vaccines available in Jordan (planned and to be assisted)

16 RBSP Palestine RBSP developed but to yet endorsed by political level (PCP stage 1) Israel FMD type O was diagnosed in a beef herd in Gazit.. Around 50 animals out of ~220 were effected (180 dams, 8 bulls and 30 calves). The virus was typed as an O type from the Panasia2 lineage. This lineage was not involved in the last 2 years outbreaks. The herd is located ~6.5 Km from the Jordanian border and 16.5 Km from the PA.

23 For REMESA/North Africa The system could allow a guarantor (third party/donor) to cover the annual costs of maintaining supply at all times The countries would pay if they order, at pre-agreed costs (transparent) Financial mechanisms exist (FAO, probably OIE also) Since relatively few countries (T,A,M?) involved, the cost of the guarantee should be simplified. The guarantor can decide how many countries or total stock it is prepared to cover in its guarantee EU countries or others could use the same scheme
