7 Cost : major concern of the automotive industry According Lux research, Tesla looking at reducing battery cost by 30 $/kwh Looking for cost reduction 30 $/kwh. (around 10%). In the battery cost at 250$/kWh, the binder represent less than 2 $/kwh. A price reduction of 10% would contribute only by less than 1% of the objective - Even a unrealistic price reduction of 50% would reach only 3% of the target. 18 Conclusions Pricing brings a minor benefit to the global cell cost target (0,2%) - But pricing is anyway is applied when volumes increase. The automotive market is driven an increasing importance of cost reduction. Even with significant cost of change, performance improvements has the highest contribution to cost reduction.
