With continual advancement in all aspects of dentistry, esthetics remain vital for the patient. Thanks to the accessibility of information from the Internet, print media and television, today s patients are far more educated about the treatment options available. Consequently, they expect the highest quality esthetics available. So how do we formulate a treatment plan for a patient who needs a complex rehabilitation with an occlusal component? First, we must determine where the teeth go esthetically and use that information to guide us in rehabilitating the patient functionally. It is the ability to integrate both the esthetic and functional aspects that allows us to achieve our objectives for both the patient and ourselves. Only through a systematic protocol and understanding of the options available to us will we be able to plan effectively and achieve those objectives. Transferring as much of this information throughout the treatment process is the key to our ultimate success. This program will review the critical steps that will enable the dentist to treatment plan a case, looking at the big picture rather than a tooth-by-tooth protocol. 1. A review of the critical esthetic criteria needed to set up the future tooth position. 2. A review of procedures used to transfer critical information from the face to the articulator, both physically and digitally. 3. How to use the esthetic information to fabricate a diagnostic wax-up that integrates the occlusal component. 4. Integrating Periodontics, Orthodontics, Orthognathics, Implant and Restorative Dentistry to achieve success. 5. A review of cases to demonstrate the process. Dr Tal Morr, a dentist in Miami FL, maintains a private practice in Florida specializing in Esthetic, Implant, and Complex Restorative Dentistry. After graduating Summa Cum Laude as a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr Morr continued his education, obtaining a Masters in Science of Dentistry (MSD) and a Certificate in Prosthodontics from the University of Washington s Graduate Prosthodontic Program. Dr Morr has more than 18 years of experience in prosthodontics and the diagnosis and treatment of the deterioration of teeth and their supporting structures. He formulates and executes treatment plans for the construction of corrective prostheses that restore proper function and esthetics to the mouth, face and jaw. His prosthodontic services include porcelain veneers, dental implants, crowns and bridges. Dr Morr has lectured in the United States and internationally on various topics such as esthetics, implants and full mouth restorative dentistry. He is a published author on esthetically related dental topics such as veneers, implants and complex prosthetics. The role of retreatment in recent years has widened thanks to new techniques and equipment that allow us to resolve complex clinical cases with multiple pathologies. Teeth with iatrogenic problems such as perforations, large foramens, resorptions, internal and external transportations, posts, broken instruments etc. are treated successfully and the role of the new cements has been fundamental for their resolution in the NSCRT. It was once more common but even today, compromised teeth are too often extracted and replaced with implants. Now the problem is completely different thanks to the incredible developments in endo treatment, particularly in relation to root perforations. Implants are a wonderful solution when we have to treat hopeless teeth but the decision-making is the most important step in our treatment and today we can treat perforations in a predictable way. 1. Decision-making process between retreatment and tooth extraction. 2. Root perforations: selection and indications of treatment. 3. Root perforation: technique and materials. Dr Fabio Gorni graduated from the Milan Dental School in He is visiting professor for the Department of Endodontics at the San Paolo Hospital in Milan. He is an active member of the Italian Society of Endodontics (SIE) and the Italian Academy of Microdentistry, a specialist member of the European Society of Endodontology and a member of the American Association of Endodontists. From 1994 to 1998 he was a member of the admission committee of the SIE, its cultural secretary from 1998 to 2001, and president from 2003 to He has lectured all over the world on various endodontic topics and has published in many national and international journals. He has also produced scientific videos, including a series with Dr C. J. Ruddle called The Endodontic Game, which has been distributed in Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia and Asia. Dr Gorni is visiting professor, head of the Peri-oral Aesthetics Course at the faculty of Odontology of the University Vita Salute San Raffaele, Milan. He is the founder of StyleItaliano Endodontics and has written chapters for five different endodontics books. He is a world expert on endodontic surgery and the recovery of compromised teeth. An innovator in endodontics and the use of the microscope in dentistry, his micro-pictures and videos are considered the best documentation in clinical and surgical endodontics. He has his own private practice in Milan where he specializes mainly in endodontics, surgical endodontics and implants, with a particular focus on micro-dentistry. 5

In 2014, Dr Belograd became an international member of the StyleItaliano group and a team member of the DSD Masters group. Since 2016 he has taught, and provides CE programs in Ukraine. 7 Tuesday, June 20 th (7:00pm AEST) Gadhzy Dazhaev (RUSSIA) The Prosthodontic Treatment Plan for Long-term Success of Dental Rehabilitation. When it comes to treatment planning, sometimes the dentist has no idea where to start or how to build the plan. In reality, the most difficult clinical cases are those in which the teeth are out of position, or bone is out of position, or gingival contours are poorly situated, or there is a problem with the occlusion. The thorough analysis of four main areas Esthetics, Function, Structure and Biology, following a systematic approach starting from the history taking, to the patient examination, model analysis in the articulator, and using a risk evaluation system allows us to make a proper diagnosis and to create a plan. Despite the fact that the determining factor in treatment planning is esthetics, the need for proper examination of the TMJ, muscles, periodontium and the teeth is necessary to achieve the long-term success of a dental rehabilitation. Dr Gadzhy Dazhaev graduated in Dentistry in 1993 and completed his specialization in prosthodontics at the Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, Moscow, in He runs a private practice in Moscow limited solely to prosthetics on natural dentition and on implants. Dr Dazhaev has been involved in dental education since He lectures and gives courses both in Russia and internationally. He is president of the Eurasian Association of Esthetic Dentistry. 1. 8 Thursday, August 3 rd (7:00pm AEST) Francesco Mintrone (ITALY) Optimal Treatment Planning in Implant Dentistry. The prosthetic rehabilitation of patients with missing teeth and bone structure adds a new problem to the already challenging targets of esthetic and functional rehabilitation. The use of implants to rehabilitate the esthetics and function of a mouth has to follow a precise sequence, considering carefully the 3D positioning of the implant. One of the most common mistakes is planning the implant position in relation to the existing bone without considering the precise prosthetic outline of the future rehabilitation. This lecture will analyze in detail how to establish optimal treatment planning in implant-supported restorations through a correct esthetic evaluation and, thanks to the use of dedicated software, how to foresee the ideal implant position in relation to the future free gingival margin. Sample cases where the target is to maintain the bone and soft tissue profile will be evaluated, as well as cases where it is mandatory to regenerate the bone in order to obtain a predictable esthetic result. Great importance will be given also to soft tissue management, so to improve the esthetics and longevity of the oral rehabilitation. Dr Francesco Mintrone began his career as a general dental technician and later specialized as a ceramist in fixed protheses. After graduating in Dentistry at the University of Modena, Italy, he attended numerous courses on prosthetic dentistry and implant surgery. He focuses his professional activity mainly on esthetics and prosthetic rehabilitation on implants and natural dentition, at his private practices in Modena. He has authored several articles published in international scientific magazines and he lectures in Italy and internationally on topics related to implants and natural dentition. 1. 9 Tuesday, September 5 th (7:00pm AEST) Andrea Ricci (ITALY) Digital Smile Design: A Tool for the Team to Treatment Plan Multidisciplinary Cases and to Communicate with the Patient. Digital Smile Design is a multi-purpose tool that can help the dentist during different phases of treatment. From the first visit until the final cementation the DSD protocol can be utilized by the dental team and the patient to understand the aesthetic issues, the elaboration of the proper treatment planning and also improving the effectiveness of the clinical sequence, facilitating the communication between clinicians and the technician. Lines and shapes drawn on extra oral pictures which give appropriate references can be transferred to intraoral photos and this help the team to widen the vision of the case, understanding the limitations, highlighting the esthetic issues and pre-visualizing the outcome. It also allows continuous re-evaluations of the treatments outcomes, providing valueless growth of the team s skills. DSD changes the method that the clinician utilize to communicate with the patient. Most of the times we are not very good explaining procedures, sequences and rationales of the treatment plans. Videos, photos and presentations help improve this communication. This is the reason why it can also be considered a philosophy, since the patient s education is improved, allowing to select the ideal treatment that is ethically customized to the patient's need and lead to superior results. Last but not least, will also increase case acceptance that is a critical aspect for the success of any dental office. Dr. Andrea Ricci graduates from University of Perugia in After a three years training program he achieved the Certificate in Advanced Prosthodontics at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. Since 1999 he limits his practice to prosthodontics, periodontology and implant dentistry with special emphasis to the aesthetic areas. He is the Scientific Director of IDEAT (Institute of Dental Education and Therapy). Malocclusion. While certainly emotional stress and occlusal factors can play a role in the etiology of bruxism, it is becoming clear that in many of our patients, obstructive airway issues may be a major driving factor. In this interactive presentation, Dr Spencer takes the audience on an evidence-based journey and makes a strong case that the so-called parafunction that wreaks havoc on our patients teeth and on our best restorations may actually be an attempt by the brain to protect the airway. This understanding will help with the diagnosis and actual treatment of the underlying etiology of bruxism. With the case made that clenching and grinding may be the brain s way to protect itself from suffocation, the lecture will then focus on how to protect the patient, protect their teeth, protect their restorations and protect your practice. 1. Review the current literature on the etiology of bruxism. 2. Understand how sleep apnea may be related to bruxism in both adults and children. 3. Clarify how to screen patients for possible sleep apnea-related bruxism, and learn how to protect the patient s teeth by protecting their airway. You may know Jamison Spencer as the "Sleep Apnea and TMD Guy." Jamison Spencer, DMD, MS, is the Director of the Center for Sleep Apnea and TMJ in Boise, Idaho, and the Director of Dental Sleep Medicine for the 28 practices of Lane and Associates Family Dentistry in North Carolina. He is adjunct faculty at Tufts University, University of the Pacific, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr Spencer teaches mini-residencies in Dental Sleep Medicine at Tufts and UOP, and lectures around the world on Dental Sleep Medicine and TMD. He is the inventor of an FDA approved oral appliance, and recently launched the Spencer Study Club as an online education and mentoring tool to help dentists take Dental Sleep Medicine and TMD to new levels in their practices. In this lecture, however, Dr Spencer draws on his many years of being a student of "self help" and success literature and experiences.
