1 An Alignment of Connected Mathematics Project 3 Grade 6, 2014 To 2012

2 , 2014 Introduction This alignment demonstrates the effectiveness of Connected Mathematics 3 Project (CMP3) when balanced with Math Navigator. The goal of Connected Mathematics 3 is to help students develop mathematical knowledge, conceptual understanding, and procedural skills, along with an awareness of the rich connections between math topics across grades and across Common Core content areas. Through the Launch-Explore-Summarize model, students investigate and solve problems that develop rigorous higher-order thinking skills and problem-solving strategies. Problem-centered, research-based approach Embeds important mathematical concepts in interesting problems Accessible to all levels of students Math Navigator is a math intervention program for Students in Grades Math Navigator builds on students prior knowledge with scaffolded instruction to find the root of every misconception that prevents them from fully grasping math concepts. With online assessments that identify misconceptions, the program drills down to the students way of thinking, revises their understanding of mathematical concepts, and monitors progress. Builds conceptual understanding, problem solving, and skills Supports English language learners and students with special needs Provides effective instruction as a supplemental Tier 2 intervention or a Tier 1 solution, to be used during school or in after-school or summer programs 2014 Pearson Education, Inc. or its affiliate(s).
