The Dermatology department has two outpatient clinics, a main clinic, and a small pediatric clinic attached to Abou Al Reish Pediatric University Hospital. An average of patients visits each clinic daily. The dermatology department has also an inpatient unit with the capacity of 37 beds. During my residency program in the dermatology department, I spent 3 months in the Andrology department. CLINICAL AND THERAPEUTIC EXPERIENCES CLINICAL EXPERIENCE I have achieved a lot of clinical experience working in the biggest university hospital in Cairo (Kasr El aini University Hospital). My clinical experience is in the following fields of Dermatology: 1. Diagnosis and management of a wide range of infectious dermatologic diseases including good experience in diagnosing leprosy, tuberculosis, atypical mycobacteria and different forms of fungal infections. 2. Diagnosis and management of autoimmune bullous diseases especially pemphigus vulgaris. Kasr El Aini University Hospital represents a big centre for treatment of immunobullous disorders with recent protocols using pulse steroid therapy and immunosuppressive drugs. During my residency I have managed critically ill immunobullous patients in our in patient unit. 3. Diagnosis and management of autoimmune collagen diseases and other autoimmune disorders. 4. Diagnosis and management of psoriasis, lichen planus and many other papulosquamous diseases and disorders of keratinization. 5. Diagnosis and management of mycosis fungoides (I have seen a lot of cases of mycosis fungoides with variable clinical presentations). 6. Diagnosis and management of atopic dermatitis seen in both the pediatric and adult population. 7. Diagnosis and management of a wide range of inflammatory dermatoses. 4

5 8. During my work in Kasr Al Eini University Hospital (Dermatology department), I have seen a lot of rare genodermatoses and rare cutaneous tumors. THERAPEUTIC EXPERIENCES I have good experience in performing the following therapeutic procedures: 1. Phototherapy including: PUVA, narrowband UVB and broad band UVB therapy of many diseases such as: psoriasis, vitiligo, mycosis fungoides, morphea and uremic pruritus. 2. Electrocautery of warts, skin tags, pyogenic granulomas and many other skin lesions 3. Cryocautery of palmoplantar warts 4. Intralesional injections of steroids 5. Comedo extraction 6. Chemical Peeling (superficial and medium depth TCA peels) in acne and melasma 7. CO2 Laser treatment of syringomas, xanthelasmas, milia, white comedones, epidermal nevi, sebaceous nevi, neurofibromatosis, angiofibromas and warts 8. Pulsed dye laser treatment of portwine stains 9. Long pulsed Nd-YAG hair removal and treatment of leg veins and hemangiomas 10. Fractional erbium and fractional CO2 laser resurfacing DERMATOLOGY RELATED SKILLS UNDERGOING DEVELOPMENT Since 09/2000 I am receiving dermatopathology training under the supervision of Prof. Mohammad A. El- Darouti (MD/ Dermatopathology Fellowship, NewYork University), and so far I have achieved a high level in microscopic diagnosis of inflammatory dermatoses, bullous dermatoses, papulosquamaous disorders and many cutaneous tumors. I am also starting a dermoscopy training under the supervision of Prof. Mohammad A. El Darouti (MD/ Dermatopathology Fellowship, NewYork University). DERMATOPATHOLOGY WORKUP Since 12/2010 (Dermatopathology diploma certification) I regularly see and diagnose histopathologicaly slides of skin biopsies on twice weekly sessions for 30 to 50 slides per session. I share in teaching dermatopatholgy lectures for master and MD. TEACHING EXPERIENCE 5
