The committee s job consists of mainly behind the scenes roles which ensure the smooth operations of the club on a large scale basis. They work in conjunction with the Program Director to ensure the club offers the best possible product to its members. Creating Tomorrow s Champion s Today is a statement that reflects the clubs long terms goals, and is the foundation for all the committee s decisions. As mentioned, the committee are volunteers but also members. They are around the club and are always open to good ideas.

4 The Roles & Responsibilities- Athletes & Families Athletes MHRS athletes should be leaders in the Mount Hotham community. Respect for themselves as well as others, professionalism, hard work, great time management, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn and improve are the foundations of the clubs culture. Athletes are expected to: - Always give their maximum effort and look to improve themselves in every session - Support their team mates - Ensure that they always act in a manner befitting of themselves and the club values. Parents Parents should be parents. The coaching staff is in place to provide athletes with the best possible training both on snow and off. Should there be any concerns do not hesitate to get in touch with the coaching staff. We strive to ensure that all members are happy and proud of the club, and we ask for support from the parents on this front. We as coaches and parents will always congratulate effort and will always ensure that we set a positive example for athletes. Athletes and families are the core of a successful club. We ask you to please treat your fellow members and staff with respect and to continue to support the clubs cultures and core values.
5 The Roles & Responsibilities- Coaches Program Coaches Program Coaches are expected to use their knowledge and experience to execute program plans set by the Head Coaches. We pride ourselves on professionalism and skill. We will always provide an environment of fairness and equality. Program coaches will always strive for excellence and ensure quality training for all athletes. Head Coaches Head Coaches will provide the framework for, and coordinate, the individual program plans. They will be in constant contact with Program Coaches to ensure a clear and concise training structure. Head Coaches will work closely with the Program Director to provide an excellent coaching structure for themselves and program coaches to implement. The decisions and training processes of all coaches are to ensure maximum benefit to the athletes. The strong team in place for 2017 are here to ensure all athletes are able to reach their sporting and personal goals in a constructive and enjoyable environment. Athletes safety and wellbeing is always at the forefront of decisions and we would ask that all members support the coaches in a positive manner throughout the season.
6 The Roles & Responsibilities- Support Staff Program Director The Program Director (PD) is responsible for overseeing the club in all day to day activities, as well as leading the clubs vision and reporting to the Committee. The PD will be in regular contact with all MHRS members and coaches and will always look to ensure that the clubs values are upheld by all. The PD works closely with Head coaches to ensure best possible training for all members, whilst also working with the committee in planning the clubs long term success. Office Manager The Office Manager will look after the general administration side of the club. Lockers, uniforms, queries about the shopping cart etc. will all be looked after by the Office Manager, who will also work closely with the PD. The Support Staff are in place to assist with all manner of the clubs daily activities. We are here to help all members with any questions that they may have. Please ensure you come see us with any queries or questions you may have throughout the season.
7 The Code Of Conduct MT HOTHAM RACING SQUAD. ATHLETE S CODE OF CONDUCT POLICY Adapted from the Skiing Australia Athlete s Code of Conduct with permission. Guidelines for team members and for the proper management of situations involving misconduct by athletes or officials Purpose The purpose of this Code of Conduct is to provide guidelines for participants and their parents as to the conduct expected of athletes and to establish lines of discipline and reporting in order that all athletes observe the highest standards of behaviour. Code of Conduct This code applies during contact hours with MHRS (squad and away at races etc). All athletes in, and to the extent applicable their parents, all coaches and other officials and all persons affiliated with, the club shall ( members ): Be aware of and observe the alpine code of responsibility. When competing in club approved races, be subject to the jurisdiction of the FIS International Competition rules and all SAL policies and by-laws;
8 The Code Of Conduct (Continued) Conduct themselves at all times and in all places as befits worthy representatives of their club and in the best traditions of international skiing competition and training; Maintain high standards of moral and ethical conduct which includes self control and responsible behaviour, consideration of the physical and emotional well-being of others and courtesy and good manners at all times; Abstain from the use of illegal drugs, smoking and the consumption of alcohol. Participants of legal age may partake of moderate consumption of alcohol if approved by the Head Coach; Avoid the use of profane or abusive language or disruptive behaviour; Not vilify others on the basis of their sex, race, religion or disability; Abide by the rules of the competition into which have entered; Adhere to any rules and/or guidelines made by the coaching staff; Adhere to any rules and/or guidelines made by the Mt Hotham Racing Squad Committee
9 The Code Of Conduct (Continued) Disciplinary Action The Program Director, under guidance from the Committee shall be the final authority in relation to all breaches of discipline and/or this code. The Program Director may delegate any disciplinary matter, other than the right to remove a participant from the club, to another coach. Disciplinary action taken may include: Suspension from training; Suspension from competition; Removal from the club. In the case of the proposed removal of a minor, that person s parents and/or guardians shall be contacted by the Program Director and the matter discussed before any decision is taken. If after such discussion, removal from the club is to occur, appropriate arrangements for the transportation of the individual concerned back home shall be made. Any additional costs will be borne by the participant.
10 The Programs Entry Level (U.8/U.10/U.12) The Entry Level section of the club is broken up into three age brackets. These programs will cover a mix of on snow skill development, racing and physical conditioning. Under 8 s The U.8 s program is designed to develop a love for the sport of skiing, an interest in going fast and the introduction into the 3 main areas of technique- Position, movement patterns and independent joint movements. The U.8 s run a Saturday and Sunday Program with a predominant mix of freeskiing and drills as well as some gate environment. Under 10 s The U.10 s program continues on with a similar focus of building a passion for skiing whilst also incorporating more racing specific and technical development. A strong platform as a good all round skier is a key aspect for this age group. Members can expect a large mix of freesking, jumping and off piste skiing, as well as racing specific skill development and gate environments. The U.10s have an option of either a 3 day per week (Fri, Sat, Sun) or 2 day per week (Sat, Sun) program. Under 12 s The U.12 s program continues to build on the all round skiing skills. Like the U.10 s program off piste skiing, jumping and freeskiing play a large part in the overall development of this age group. Racing skills and technical drills will be adjusted for each kids needs and exposure to gate environments will be quite high. Expect a blend of Giant Slalom, Slalom, SkiX, drills and freeskiing. There are 3 training options: Full time (Thu to Sun), Part Time Plus (Fri to Sun), Part Time (Sat/Sun)
11 The Programs Under 16 s/under 14 s The U.16/U.14 program is race specific and will cover a range of disciplines. Athletes will train a mix of Giant Slalom, Slalom, SkiCross and some Super G elements (snow and conditions dependant). Athletes will continue to improve their general all round skiing through freeskiing (on piste and off) and technical drills/skills. The combination of race specific training and general ski development will give athletes the best possible step of achieving their personal sporting goals. Athletes can expect a range of technical drill and skill development, both in gate environments and out, which will cover technical, tactical and race scenario elements. U.16/U.14 athletes will also compete in the SSA Childrens Series Training Options: Full Time (Wed to Sun), Part Time Plus (Friday to Sun), Part Time (Sat and Sun) FIS The FIS level athletes will compete in the International level events being held in Australia. This includes the FIS, National Championships/National Junior Championships and Australian/New Zealand Continental Cup. Athletes will have a structured preparation phase leading up to the events series to ensure best possible outcomes. GS, Slalom, SkiCross, technical drills, freesking and strength and conditioning will be covered. A combination of technical and tactical training will be addressed to ensure that athletes are ready to compete and preform. Training Options: Full Time (Wed to Sun), Daily Training & Competition Program (Daily* (*must be purchased in blocks of five (5)) rate program designed for athletes to juggle school requirements and training and International athletes- Please refer to the website for details)

Masters can expect skill development through a combination of technical freeskiing and drills, as well as race specific GS and Slalom training. The program will help prepare members for the 'National Masters Races (dates tbc), through a structured program that will give offer Slalom and GS gate training opportunities, as well as on and off piste skiing development. School Holidays Program The School Holidays Program are two 5 day programs that run Monday to Friday during the July school holidays. Participants can expect a blend of ski development through drills and skills, as well specific race training and exposure to gate environments (conditions dependent). Participants have the choice of entering the 1 st week training block (5 days), the 2 nd week training block (5 days) or both blocks (10 days). This program is a mix of skill development/racing development for families who can only make it to the resort for school holidays. Hotham Own The Mountain HOTM is a new initiative by the MHRS and is an 11 day program. Participants can expect a structured ski development program, which will touch on specific racing skills and some exposure to gate environments (conditions dependant). Technical drills/skills, offpiste/onpiste skiing, and racing skills will be the focus of the HOTM program. HOTM is a program with a broad range of skill development for families who can t commit to full season programs.
13 The Training Planning and structure are key in the smooth running of the race club. Please ensure you keep up to date on current information (TeamApp/FaceBook) as plans may change last minute. Skiing is an outdoor sport so it is important that whilst we plan for the best, we must also ensure that we are flexible in our operations to maximize training productivity. We will always meet at the MHRS club house, unless specified by the coaching staff. 14 What else New in 2017 Uniform As of 2017, the club has a brand new fleet of jackets which are included in every program (except school holiday and HOtM - Hotham Own the Mountain) purchased. We ask all members to please wear the 2017 club uniform at all times during training. Please ensure that you have black ski pants for all training sessions also. *Skiing is an outdoor sport and we understand that there will be times when club jackets/black ski pants are wet, though we please ask that the correct uniform is worn at all times when possible. Please refer to the Uniform Policy at for a full guide. Clubhouse Renovations The club house is havinga facelift... A big thank you to Rob Drechsel and Rob Hofbauer (and crew) for the renovation works over the summer. There have been major improvements made to to the top floor kitchen and seating area, storage areas and TV/Video section. For those of you who are free 20 th /21 st May, there will be a club working bee held at Hotham over the weekend.
