1 Savannah-Chatham County Public School System DAS-REMI School Year First Quarter Report Goal 2.B.3 School Level Crisis Exercises M. Ann Levett, Ed.D., Superintendent Terry L. Enoch, Chief of Police
2 STRATEGIC GOAL 2: TO PROVIDE A SUPPORTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT THAT IS CONDUCIVE TO TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIC GOAL 2.B B. To promote and increase prevention-based and behavior intervention programs for maintaining a safe and healthy environment. GOAL 2.B.3 School Level Crisis Exercises Executive Summary The DAS-REMI is a data-driven accountability manual that provides a straightforward, measurable, transparent tool for assessing district performance in academic and non-academic areas. These objectives specify what the Superintendent and the administration will be focusing on to accomplish each of the Board s strategic goals. In accordance with Strategic Goal 2.B.3, the Board of Education Police Department shall provide a report that provides the number of School Level Crisis Exercises conducted. A School Level Crisis Exercise tracks the exposure of mocked or simulated crisis at the schools, and is based on the expectation that each school site will conduct 1 live and 2 simulated exercises each school year. This indicator is important as it exposes the administration to crisis scenarios and engages them in high-impact learning practice to minimize risk. For the first quarter of the school year (August - September 2017), of the fifty-six (56) schools, forty-seven (47) completed the simulated (tabletops) school level crisis exercises. There were zero (0) functional (live) exercises. Thus, 83.92% of the schools completed the tabletop exercises for the first quarter. The target of 100% was not met for the school level crisis exercises.
3 Of the five (5) Charter schools, only one (1) simulated (tabletops) was conducted, resulting in 20% of the Charter schools completing the simulated (tabletops) school level crisis exercises. All schools participated in the scenario for their simulated exercises. Depicted below is a summary of the report: Simulated (Tabletop) Exercises Scenarios 47 Functional (Live) Exercises Functional Exercises Completed - 0 (These exercises are due by February 23, 2018) Number of schools/other sites Completed 11 High Schools 10 8 K-8 Schools 6 8 Middle Schools 7 23 Elementary Schools 22 6 Other sites 2 (Coastal Comp, Wings, Massie Heritage, Building Bridges Middle, Building Bridges High and Oatland Island) KPI: Simulated and Functional Exercises 3 year comparison BASE TBD 94.2% 94.2% TARGET 1 simulated / 1 live 2 simulated / 1 live 2 simulated / 1 live 100% 100% 100% ACTUAL 1 st & 2 nd QTR - 81% / 19% Annual Report: 93% / 89% 1 st QTR / 0%
