You will be supporting us in highlighting the importance of emotional wellbeing during pregnancy and early parenting. We re thrilled that you re keen to get involved! Anxiety and Depression during pregnancy and early parenting affects 1 in 6 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers How will your donation help? Your donation will help us continue with education, awareness raising and advocacy around postnatal anxiety and depression as well as support our programs to assist families. $40 can help produce educational resources for community education and awareness. $80 can help provide one counselling session for a distressed mother at Gidget House. $100 can help fund training for GPs and other health professionals. $250 can help support ongoing counseling at Gidget House that will change lives. $400 can help fund ground breaking research into improving ways of assessing and supporting at risk parents. 2 Tips for hosting a Bun in the Oven event 1. Set a date Postnatal Depression Awareness Week is November 2016 but you can hold your event anytime that suits you before the end of December. 2. Decide on location and type of event A small gathering at home? An office morning tea? A party in a park? The type of event you host is up to you. You might decide to have a theme for your event or to keep it really simple. Just make sure you have wet weather plans and you book any public spaces. 3. Decide how you will collect donations You can set up an online fundraising page on givematcher.com.au. Search for Gidget Foundation and our campaign Bun in the Oven Simply click on Start Fundraising to show your support and start a fundraiser. Setting up a fundraising page means you don t have to deal with money on the day or collecting donation slips. Guests who donate via your fundraising page will receive an automatic receipt. You can also customise your fundraising page, upload photos and link to social media. You may also collect donations on the day of your event by simply setting up a donations box. Put it somewhere highly visible! Please ask all donors to fill out a donation slip and send us all donation slips after your event. All donations over $2 are tax deductible and we will send receipts to everyone who donates. 4. Invite your guests Feel free to use our sample invitation or design your own , text or written invite. Let your guests know why you are raising money and how they can donate. Use social media if need be to spread the word some may be willing to donate even if they can t attend your event. 5. The bun! Bun can mean many things! Make or buy a tasty loaf, cake, scones, muffins, finger buns, hamburger or hot dog buns. Feel free to be creative with your Bun in the Oven event. Some friends may be able to help you cater for the event and bring a plate to share. 6. Say thanks After your Bun in the Oven event, remember to thank everyone who donated. Let everyone know how much money you raised and that their contribution is valued. The Gidget Foundation exists to promote the importance of emotional wellbeing among expectant and new parents, their health providers and the wider community to ensure that those in need receive timely, appropriate and supportive care.

If people donate at your event, please send donation forms to the following address. Fundraising and promotion ideas Start Talking 1. Prizes Can you, your friends or local businesses provide anything that could be used as prizes or raffle items? You could charge a gold coin entry fee to go into the draw for a lucky door prize? 2. Media Your local paper and/or radio station might be interested in your event. During Postnatal Depression Awareness Week they may be looking for stories of how local community members are raising money and awareness of this treatable illness. 3. Donations Make it easy to donate and be clear with your guests how they can donate. Check your progress if you have an online fundraising page, send reminders, set targets and announce your fundraising total. Some employers will match donations of their employees so encourage people to ask their employers about matching. 4. Have fun Encourage participation, create the right atmosphere and above all enjoy yourself! You will be more likely to host another Bun in the Oven event and your guests will be more likely to come again if everyone has fun!
