2 Our mission is to improve the lives of families impacted by cancer. OUR HOPE We seek to normalize the cancer experience, provide developmentally appropriate cancer education, reinforce healthy coping strategies, and provide a fun experience for children touched by cancer. FOR ANY CHILD IMPACTED BY CANCER Camp Sparkle campers are: Children who have a loved one with cancer, children who have lost a loved one to cancer and children who have their own cancer diagnosis. REDUCING FINANICAL BURDEN Cancer Pathway is committed to reducing the financial burden of cancer on families, which is why Camp Sparkle is offered free of charge.

4 SCHEDULE What a typical camp day looks like.. 9:00am: Parent drop-off 9:30am: Welcome Circle 9:45am: Park, music or team building 10:30am: Coping skills activity 11:30am: Lunch 12:30pm: Field Trip! 3:30pm: Snack 3:45pm: Reflection Circle 4:00pm: Parent pick-up Schedules may vary slightly COPING SKILLS ACTIVITIES Cancer Education Jeopardy, Drama Therapy, Art Therapy, music, exercise, Reading with Rover (therapy dogs), and more! All themed activities are ageappropriate and model healthy coping strategies. Each day we send home a Theme of the Day sheet that gives families tips and ideas on how to continue these coping strategies at home. FIELDTRIPS Woodland Park Zoo, Point Defiance Zoo, Center for Wooden Boats, Seattle Chocolates, Golden Gardens, Lake Sammamish State Park, local pools, Imagine Children s Museum, Tacoma Children's Museum and more!

FAQ S What age are the campers? Camp Sparkle is for kids ages 6-12. Children must have completed kindergarten to be eligible. How many children at each camp?

5 FAQ S What age are the campers? Camp Sparkle is for kids ages Children must have completed kindergarten to be eligible. How many children at each camp? We can accept 25 children at each location. What about my teen? Teens are able to participate in Camp Sparkle as well! Teens ages 17 and older are eligible to be volunteer counselors! Teens ages are eligible to be junior counselors. There are a limited number of spots for each location, so contact the Family Program Manager for more information. What does camp cost? Camp Sparkle is FREE of charge to families thanks to our wonderful supporters! We believe in reducing economic hardship for families dealing with cancer. What do I pack for lunch? Nothing! We provide lunch to campers everyday! We ask that you pack a lunch if your child has any dietary restrictions. What if my child is not comfortable talking about cancer? All the activities and discussions are completely optional. We are happy to support the emotional needs of each camper. Will my child be safe? Camp Sparkle is staffed by trained volunteers and Cancer Pathways staff members. All volunteers complete a background check and special training. We are able to maintain a 3:1 camper to counselor ratio. The Camp Director and Head Counselors are all trained in CPR and First Aid. All concerns regarding allergies and medical needs should be communicated to the Camp Director. My child has special needs, can you accommodate that? We want to ensure that every child benefits from our camp, so we evaluate our capacity to meet special needs on a case-by-case basis. Please contact the Family Program Manager to discuss. How do I register my child? To register please contact Maddie, the Family Program Manager. The Director will you the camp registration link which must be completed prior to the start of camp. If your child is new to Camp Sparkle, you will need to complete a short phone orientation with the Family Program Manager.

COUNSELORS NEEDED Camp Sparkle could not function without our amazing VOLUNTEER CAMP COUNSELORS! We look for positive and energetic volunteers 17 and older to assist the Head Counselors with supervising and building relationships with our campers.
