ABC for Health provides assistance to families and children with special healthcare needs or with difficulty accessing healthcare. Center for Patient Partnerships A project of the UW Law School that advocates for patients with life threatening or serious chronic illness and helps them make informed decisions and get the health care they need and deserve. Gorham Street, Madison). CILC may provide clients with volunteer law students and attorneys, case evaluation by volunteer attorneys, referrals, assistance with basic immigration-related forms, and know your rights information. Spanish interpreters available. Call ahead or bring interpreters for other languages. Community Justice, Inc Non-profit law firm serving people with lower incomes. Consumer Law Clinic Provides legal services to low-income individuals with consumer law issues. Crime Victim Compensation Program Victims of crime may be able to obtain financial assistance for expenses related to the crime not covered by other resources or insurance. DAIS Legal Program or

2 Legal advocacy available for restraining orders, family law, criminal law, immigration, and other cases. Information and referrals available as well. Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Victims may be able to get contact information for probation and parole agent if abusive person is on probation, parole, or extended supervision. Disability Rights Wisconsin TTY: Disability Rights Wisconsin serves people of all ages, including people with developmental disabilities, mental illness, physical or sensory disabilities, and traumatic brain injury. District Attorney s Office Dane County Domestic Violence Unit In criminal cases involving domestic violence, the DV Unit works with victims and provides information about crime victim rights and the defendant s criminal case. Deferred Prosecution Program Eligible defendants can avoid sentencing and a criminal conviction by satisfying the requirements of a deferred prosecution agreement contract. Dane County Crime Response Provides support and resources to victims of serious crimes. Domestic Violence Immigration Clinic UW Law School students assist immigrant survivors of domestic violence with petitions for visas and US citizenship. Elder Abuse & Adult-at-Risk Abuse Reporting Hotline Provides support and services to victims of elder abuse and to adults-at-risk in Dane County. Area Agency on Aging May be able to provide legal advocacy to elderly crime victims. Elder Law Center Coalition of Wisconsin Aging Groups Provider of legal services and resources to citizens 60 years and older with special emphasis on the frail and vulnerable elderly in need of long-term care. Family Court Assistance Project Information and assistance from UW-Madison law students to people without lawyers. Will assist clients with restraining orders, divorce, and other family law related paperwork. Family Court Counseling Service Assists with court-ordered mediation, family studies, and parenting classes for those with family law cases in Dane County. Family Law Assistance Center Wednesdays 11:30am -1:30pm; Spanish speakers available 1 st and 3 rd Wednesdays of the month. Volunteer attorneys provide family law information and assistance. Lawyer Referral & Information Services Hotline or A program of the State Bar of Wisconsin that provides attorney referrals to get simple legal questions answered. The hotline will set up an appointment for an attorney to call the client back, free of charge, within a few days. Modest Means Program A program from the State Bar of Wisconsin that may be able to help individuals get legal representation at a reduced rate. Individuals must fill out an application. Legal Action of Wisconsin, Inc or Provides free legal assistance to low-income persons in the following areas: family law, housing (landlord-tenant, Section 8, public, and subsidized housing), consumer, foreclosures, and public benefits (disability and SSI, Medical Assistance and Badger Care, Food Stamps, W2, child care, and unemployment insurance). VINE System Dane County Jail Victim Information and Notification Everyday: Call for information about inmate charges, bail, and scheduled release date, or to register for automatic notification by telephone or when an inmate is released or transferred. VOICE System Enrollment Access to VOICE & sex offender information A victim notification system similar to VINE but for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. This system can be used to find release information for inmates incarcerated in Wisconsin state prisons. Call the above number to enroll for this service. 4
