New Business: The next Intergroup meeting in November we will be taking nominations for Officers and Committee Chairs for Nominations will be opened and closed during the November, 2017 Intergroup meeting; with elections to be held in December, 2017 Intergroup. Talk to your rooms about this and anyone who is interested should either attend November Intergroup or submit a letter of acceptance of nomination to Intergroup. Be sure to review the Intergroup guidelines on for details, descriptions and requirements for the Officers and Committee Chairs. Committee Reports Pinnings Dianna R (Sandy M reporting) To schedule a pinning, please Dianna R at pinnings@gachicago.org or call o Important: To ensure that the Supplies Chair(s) are aware of pins that need to be ordered, please advise the Pinning Chair if you need to order a pin(s) at least 6 weeks in advance to ensure they are received in time for your pinning. o When you submit information for a pinning by please include (meeting room/location, date, and if you need a pin(s) in your ). Please ensure you include a phone number when submitting pinning requests in case of questions.

Intergroup Reps can do this by ing or calling a submission to the Pinning Chairperson.. o It is recommended that no meeting schedule more than 1 pinning event in a 30 day period. This is done in order to prevent pinning events being scheduled on the same date in different meeting locations. o Chicagoland Intergroup will pay for the pin once the pinnee has qualified to be added to the pinning list. The Intergroup Rep will be asked if the member requesting a pinning, by their own admission, has met all following requirement s to qualify. o To be eligible to be pinned, a member must have (Per the Gamblers Anonymous Guidance Code, Article VII, Section 4 stating): Abstinence from gambling and regular attendance of at least thirty-nine (39) Gamblers Anonymous meetings (exceptions can be made, via group conscience decisions, for medical reasons and military stationed overseas) in the prior 12 months, by the member s own admission, is required for pinnings and for all successive anniversaries. Date of abstinence starts from your first meeting after your last bet. Pinning Meeting Format General Guidelines: o Announce at beginning of pinning that As this is a program of anonymity, we ask that Family & Friends be mindful of this and ask before taking pictures. This is also why we provide first name and last initial only for GA members when introducing them. o Announce prior to a collection begin taken that: Donations will be accepted only from GA members. While we appreciate contributions offered, our organization is self-supporting. (See Unity step 7 regarding declining outside contributions.) 4 Budget Doug K and Peggy S (Peggy S reporting) Putting together budget for next year. Asking for ideas on how to spend some of the available funds. What can we do to help the compulsive gambler who still suffers? Take it to your rooms and bring back ideas Please Doug or Peggy with budget questions or suggestions at budget@gachicago.org. GA Chicagoland Website Doug K (No report) Doug is looking for someone to volunteer to take over the website. He will be more than happy to assist someone with learning the format and guide them through the process. Please see him if you would be interested in helping with this very important role. Joys, Cares & Concerns Pat F (Bette M. reporting) Pat F is having an angiogram on 10/13 Jim J of Downers Grove is having an angiogram on 10/12 **Please keep all in your thoughts and prayers** Cards were requested for several members for sympathy and get well. Bette M passed out cards to rooms. As a reminder, please donate cards for use by Joys, Cares & Concerns. Meetings Paul A (Paul A reporting) Paul reported that he attended several meetings, including: Saturday Park Ridge and Tuesday Bloomingdale Meetings needing support: o Wednesday Joliet (Spanish) 6:30 pm o Wednesday Highland, IN 7:00 pm o Friday, South Chicago, Willa Rawls 6:30pm o Friday, Dyer, Indiana 7:00 pm o Saturday-Hinsdale 2:00pm to 3:15pm o Sunday Elk Grove Village 6 pm Phone Service Ellen Z & Peggy S # 2 (Peggy S # 2 reporting) 27 calls from 9/1/17 to 9/30/17: 13 Accepted 7 Missed 2 Voic 5 Meeting Info Missed calls means that the person let it ring 36 times. The system rings 6 times and then transfers to the next volunteer until its done six times. If you are a volunteer, please be certain you are available during your times to minimize missed calls. We are always looking for volunteers for the hours you are available. 6 months clean time is required. Information is on the website on how to be of service answering hotline calls. 5 Pressure Relief Mark M (Mark M reporting) One Pressure Relief to report Mark M requested all members of GA to please complete a super brief survey to help him better help the members of GA with Pressure Reliefs and info regarding pressure reliefs. Please take surveys to your rooms and return them at the next Intergroup. Mark thanked everyone for the surveys he got several and is asking for one more month to return them at the November Intergroup Blue is Bad; Green is Good!! Mark reminded us again that the Blue covered packets titled Gambler s Anonymous Pressure Relief Group Meeting Handbook Printed 03/2016 are NOT to be used. The green covered packets titled The Pressure Relief Group Meeting Handbook printed 08/2011 ARE to be used currently. Please notify Mark M if you would like him to speak at your meeting about the different types of Pressure Relief programs and how they work. You can text or call Mark M with your name, room and date you would like him to come to your meeting. Mark can be reached at or by prgm@gachicago.org Public Relations Brian B & Allen H (Allen H reporting) No report If you are interested in volunteering for public relations, please contact Brian at or Allen at or Public Relations at publicrelations@gachicago.org Trustees Reports Dave M Attended the pinnings in Norridge and St. John s. The trustee meeting is at the end of the month and he won t be attending so he voted via absentee ballot. Pam E The trustees will be addressing the Pressure Relief concerns at the conference more to come. The Yellow Combo Book is now available for your book reader. Available for $2 on Amazon and Nook. Will be voting via absentee ballot on the 65 agenda items by the deadline. Linda S Linda raised $1,224 for the ISO Walkathon at the International Conference. These funds were raised through candy sales and collections. She indicated that a box was given to an attendee at a previous Intergroup but that individual was not there (current month), so Linda took it upon herself to give the $104 to make up for the uncollected funds. A motion was made by Frank F and seconded by Allen H to reduce the amount being paid to ISO to $1120 and reimburse Linda for $104. If the funds get returned, they will be sent to ISO. Motion passed. o Post-Intergroup meeting note added to these minutes by Sandy M: Per our Treasurers, Tom & Phil Phil and Linda had a discussion and there was no money discrepancy as previously thought. The Check that was given to Linda at the 10/10/17 Intergroup meeting is good and she is not owed any money after all. (Wanted to get this information out in these meeting minutes as a post-meeting note).
6 GA & Gam-Anon Spring Conference 2018 Cindy M, Verna B, Bob and Mary D (Bob D reporting) 2018 Spring Conference will be held at the Hyatt Lisle on April 6,7 & 8 Next planning meeting will be held on October 18, 2017 at 7pm at the Hyatt Flyers were available for Save the Date and Conference Planning meeting. Reps were encouraged to bring them to their meetings. Flyer shows need for committees and anyone interested in participating should come to the meeting or send an to springconference18@gmail.com Holiday Party Pat F and Tim F (Pat F reporting) Currently signed up: 35 adults, 14 children under 5 years old, and 11 children over 5 years old. Goodie bags are being donated Picnic (2017) Joe G & Shari H (No report) Spirituality Conference 2018 Anthony M & Leticia P (Peggy S # 2 reporting) They are still looking for a venue. If anyone has suggestions please contact them. Supplies Mary D & Elsa S (Mary D reporting) Mary announced the rooms that had supplies ready for pickup For now, Dianna R advises that you order directly from Mary. Intergroup reps please followup to see if someone in your room is passing pins down to someone. Mary places a pin order the Monday immediately following each intergroup meetings. The pin(s) will then be available the following intergroup meeting. All orders have been filled. A supply report was provided. Some rooms owe money. Please let Mary know if you have any questions. Reminder: Your room will need to place a Supply order for the pin(s) far enough ahead of time to ensure it is available for the pinning event. (Your room will not be charged for the pin this is a CIG expense). Please tell Pinning chairperson (Dianna R) if you need a pin and let a Supply chairperson (Mary D or Elsa S) know, as well. Treasurers Phil S & Tom H (Tom H reporting) During Intergroup, please ensure room contributions are submitted as soon as possible, contributions received after 8:00 p.m. do not allow for the treasury report to be completed before the end of the meeting. The following financial reports were made available to intergroup members in order to keep finances as transparent as possible. Checking Account Balance A monthly hand written report that includes every check issued, receipts deposited and funds held in trust As of October 9, 2017 we have available funds for CIG of $24, (this figure is the checking account balance less funds held in trust). Contribution Report (Listed by Room) - Documents details by room for ISO and CIG contributions and Supply purchases. Receipts are available if you bring in cash or if your room wants a receipt; otherwise they will be posted on the following month s handout. Please check the Contributions Report that is handed out at Intergroup. Reps
7 are responsible for ensuring it is correct. Pinning Fund Report A hand out was provided for rooms with pinning funds. This report details pinning funds held in trust for rooms that have CIG holding their pinning money. Report dated 10/10/17 shows there is currently $3, pinning funds held in trust. Reps are responsible for ensuring pinning funds held in trust for their rooms are correct. *Please only take a copy if your room has CIG holding your pinning fund.
