5 XI. Treasurer s Report Burning Desire / Last Chance accepted SEPT treasurers report. SEE END OF MINUTES FOR OCT REPORT XII. RCM Report The last RSC was held Sept in the Beach and Bay Area. I attended with Evelyn, and Saturday was devoted to the PR Committee, Service System Workgroup and the Admin Committee. Here are the highlights from the Sunday RSC meeting (anyone wishing to download the RSC minutes can do so from the RSC website at The login is sfrsc and the password is Honesty1). The following annual budgets were passed: Newsletter $3,090 (down $400 from last year); H&I $4,100 (same as last year); Admin $15,500 ($3,000 less than last year); RD/AD $5,650 ($2,500 less than last year); PR $13,655 ($1,410 more than last year due to an increase for media projects such as bus ads and billboards) A motion was passed to have the regional member-at-large research the feasibility of our region producing welcome keytags with our regional helpline number on it. A motion was passed to add to policy so that the current liability insurance that the region gets for all groups will now be available for area activities, which the area will have to pay for if they need it. A motion was passed to update our online policy after each RSC meeting instead of our current method of updating policy once per year. Several motions were made to change the regional travel policy as per the discussions we had at our ASC in August. These motions will be going to the regional admin committee for their recommendation and will then be brought up at the next RSC meeting. The Midcoast area also has a motion to change the same policies. More will be revealed. The South Florida Regional Convention reported that is lost $4,400 on the convention. Therefore, the $5,000 given to them from the RSC in July will not be repaid this year. They did report that there were 781 total registrations which included 309 full pays, 304 day pays, 12 partial pays and 156 no pays. This was a marked improvement from last year. As a reminder to everyone, NA World Services is having a service system workshop in Orlando on October Please register at if you are planning on going. The rooms and transportation made available by the region is still available, but time is running out. ILS, Jeff P The following motion has gone back to the groups for a vote. [REGION] Also listed under NEW BUISNESS. Motion# Maker: PR Second by: Conch Republic Motion To Read: To spend $1.500 for 300 interior bus signs to run through Miami-Dade county. South Atlantic to match funds with $1,500. Intent: To get the helpline number out for multiple Areas in a prudent manner. $10 per sign is an effective use of funds. XIII. Alt RCM On September 18, 2010 I attended the September Regional Service Committee meeting. There were 10 Areas represented. On Saturday, I attended the Service Structure AdHoc Committee presentation and RCM orientation for an overview and familiarization of the

6 process. Each RCM received a copy of the Policy and a walk through the duties of an RCM. In the future the RCM and I will be splitting duties and at the November RSC, I will be attending the SFRCNA meetings while the RCM will attend the Regional PR Committee meetings. At the RSC meeting on Sunday the following issues were among those discussed: Every Group, as well as every Area, that would like to receive the NAWay must renew their subscription at The AD noted that proof of insurance for events, meeting spaces and activities can be obtained for the cost of the rider. Please contact RCM Jeff P if you need and insurance certificate. Discussion of the SFFCNA convention held recently in Naples noted that the event lost approximately $4K but still has about $2K in unsold merchandise. The merchandise will be sold wherever possible to help offset the losses. Policy will be updated and available online shortly after each RSC meeting. Please be sure to read the RSC minutes and contact Jeff P on how to obtain a copy. In Loving Service, Evelyn J XIV. Subcommittee Reports Activities: No report as activities there currently is not an activities committee. Helpline/Public Relations: from Peter. Hospitals & Institutions [H&I]: Our Monthly Subcommittee Meeting was held on Sept. 21 st, We currently have 14 facilities and 24 meetings. We have 5 open meetings needed filling. Please come to our next Subcommittee Meeting if you are interested in being of service on Tuesday, November 16 th, 2010 at 6:30pm at St. John s Episcopal Church on 1750 Buchanan, Hollywood. We elected a new secretary, Kourtney S. REMINDER: BSO Orientation is held the 3 rd Thursday of each month at 3720 W. Oakland Park Blvd, between 2 and 4 pm or 6 and 8 pm, you must be on time. These meetings are for those who want to be cleared to speak in jails. I also attended the Sept. Regional H&I meeting. Nothing to report. We also voted in the same budget as last year which passed. Tanks for letting me be of service. Randi K. 12 HR. THANKSGIVING [AD-HOC]: We had our first meeting this past Wed., Oct. 6 th. There were 7 people in attendance. We discussed having the event at St. James of the Hills Episcopal Church, where the noon mtg.meets all week, as it has been held there each year. I went to the church on Thur. and spoke with Father Addison, who locked us in from 10am through 9 pm. Although he was unable to locate last year s contract, he authorized the same price, and asked that we look it up in our archives and request the same check amount for the Church. He later called me back and located the amount which was $ The church will provide regular seating for 2 meetings, one at noon and one at 7pm, and will further provide tables and chairs to seat a minimum of 50 people at a time. FYI: Last year there was an AA mtg. at 6pm which no longer uses the church. The committee discussed asking the area for $$ for food, drinks, coffee, paper goods, etc, and again we ask that the archives be retrieved to see how much will be needed for the same. A check request for $ was entered today for the church and food. We were further informed by Duke that a new activities subcommittee is in the process of being formed, and this committee is happy to continue to help with the new committee, if so desired by them. As a result of the above, although we were going to put out sign-up sheets for only cooked side dishes re:it s a pot luck event, with the exception of the turkeys and hams, provided by seed money. We have several committee members willing to cook the turkeys and hams in our homes and bring them thanksgiving day. At the close of the meeting, we discussed bringing a flyer to area, so there is ample time to make announcements for the event. Said flyer was approved by this ad-hoc committee and 60 copies have been made to give to area. ILS, Randi K.
