2 LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Friends and Colleagues: On behalf of our Managing Diretor, Beth Meister, the ountless number of volunteer leaders, and your dediated Board of Diretors, I am proud and honored to present to you the Chapter Annual for The purpose of this booklet is to be a resoure guide for our existing and prospetive members detailing several of the exiting soial and eduational events within the Florida Chapter that are planned for next year. In addition, we ve highlighted some of the opportunities for professional development, areer advanement and membership benefits that are made available to CMAA members. With over 650 members, the Florida Chapter is the largest and one of the most ative in the ountry. We pride ourselves on providing relevant eduational sessions and exeptional networking opportunities. If you are interested in learning more about the Florida Chapter of the CMAA, please ontat Beth or Cherie in our Chapter offie. Professional Development We are very exited to showase a slate of nationally reognized speakers both at regional meetings and at our legendary summer onferenes. The various sessions will help enlighten our members on the ore ompetenies that provide the eduational framework of our profession and the leadership skills that will help you guide your team bak at the lub! In addition, we have provided save the dates and other information on the ertifiation, university based BMI s and other eduational programs, and the opportunities for our Student members. Networking I promise you-you will get out of FLCMAA what you put into it. I would enourage you to make the most of your membership by attending and partiipating at our onferenes and soial events, volunteering your time on a Chapter or Regional Charity Committee, and begin to invest the time into developing relationships with your fellow members. Besides the eduational opportunities made available by CMAA, I annot express enough the importane and signifiane of how muh your fellow members an assist you with your role as a lub manager. There are so many resoures at your disposal, with so muh experiene just a phone all away. Whether you are dealing with an operational issue, a tough Board member, a poliy, or trying to get omparative information, I have never found a fellow lub manager not willing to help, advise or lend an ear. We are here to support and help one another-that's what makes our Chapter and the lub industry unique and unlike other segments of the hospitality industry. I attribute muh of my professional advanement and suess to the tremendous insight I have reeived from my peers within CMAA. FLCMAA posts open positions and opportunities on our website: Certifiation Programs CMAA takes great pride in its voluntary ertifiation program. Sine its ineption in 1965, it has beome reognized as the hospitality industry s most respeted ertifiation program. Certified Club Manager (CCM) The Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation is the ornerstone of CMAA s Member reognition program. It is a valuable and widely respeted mark of a manager s ommitment to professional development and the lub industry. The Florida Chapter is proud to announe the following members have attained their Certified Club Manager (CCM) redentials in the last year. Robert J. DiBiase, CCM Patrik MDonald, CCM David R. Gillespie, CCM John R. Newman, CCM Matthew Linderman, CCM Whitney Tomlinson, CCM Stephen LoGiudie, CCM Bryan Twente, CCM Jessia Madsen, CCM Certified Chief Exeutive (CCE) The CCE designation was developed to reognize managers that have shown the ability to suessfully serve as the most senior manager in a lub. While the CCM designation is still the hallmark of professionalism within the lub industry, the CCE designation is meant to augment the CCM designation. Master Club Manager (MCM) The MCM designation is a ertifiation and reognition program for a speial group of professionals who have made extraordinary and long-lasting ontributions to the lub industry. Honor Soiety This ahievement is open to lub managers who have ahieved 400 additional redits beyond ertifiation (minimum 150 CMAA/CMI), 10 years of membership and suessful ompletion of BMI IV or BMI V. 7 EDUCATION & NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES CMAA World Conferene The World Conferene on Club Management is the Assoiation s most omprehensive eduation event of the year with partiipation by over 3000 international lub professionals. The 2015 World Conferene will be held in San Antonio, Texas, Marh 8-12, Further details on this event are available at Future Leaders Program Eduation foused on mid-management staff is offered throughout the year as part of the Future Leaders Eduation Program. Eduation modules, gaining CMAA redits, have been developed fousing on the 10 Core Competenies of CMAA. These modules are offered online with monthly Member Mentor alls overing the featured area/topi. Regionally aessible events are offered allowing mid-management to gain high-quality eduation and opportunities to gain eduation, further their areers and gain neessary eduation redits for CCM areditation. Regional Eduation Eah year, the five (5) Regions of FLCMAA offer over 100 hours of eduation events and networking opportunities at loal meetings in your area. The Florida Chapter ompiles the best speakers available on topis of urrent trends and relevane. All eduation sessions are inluded in member dues. A shedule of events is inluded on pages 14 and 15 and is available online at 7

8 STUDENT DEVELOPMENT CMAA urrently has more than 1,200 student members and maintains 42 Student Chapters and Colonies at olleges and universities throughout the United States. The Florida Chapter is proud to be assoiated with four (4) established CMAA Student Chapters - Florida State University (FSU), Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU), Johnson & Wales University-Miami (J&W), the University of Central Florida (UCF) and Northwood University. National Student Eduation Conferene November 5-8, 2015 New England Chapter Boston, MA CCM SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM The Florida Chapter is pleased to announe its new Sholarship Program, whih is an opportunity for the Florida Chapter to re-invest in our members professional development, and provide finanial assistane to those Members who are working towards the attainment of their CCM designation; a highly reognized ahievement and ommitment within the lub industry. CHARITABLE GIVING Our members and member lubs ontinue their ommitment to servie by supporting loal and national harities. In 2014, FLCMAA members and lubs again raised over $1,000,000 through Regional golf tournaments and fund raising events that benefited harities suh as Barbara s Friends, Golisano Children s Hospital Caner Fund, Speial Olympis Florida, Arnold Palmer s Children s Hospital, Children s Mirale Network, Toys for Tots, SOS Children s Village, Ronald MDonald House Charities, George Snow Sholarship Fund, Florene Fuller Child Development Centers, Uniorn Village Aademy and All Children s Hospital. 8

9 CMAA UNIVERSITY CMAA University is the expansion of CMAA s Lifetime Professional Development program featuring dynami, online learning. CMAA University was developed as a way to bring eduation to CMAA members and staff training to the lub ommunity. Aessible through a desktop, laptop or tablet, this eduational resoure is launhing a new way for CMAA members to earn Club Management Institute (CMI) redits for free as a benefit of membership. Organized into 10 subjet areas, members partiipate in interative ourses and take a test reviewing the ourse material. Your login time for eah ourse is traked to verify your partiipation. Credits an ount toward the requirements for Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation, the Certifiation Maintenane Requirement, Honor Soiety and Master Club Manager (MCM) eligibility. It is done at your pae and on your shedule. MANAGER IN DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (MID) This CMAA eduational program was developed to eduate entry- and mid-level managers through exposure to diverse departments within a lub operation. The program is presented as an online, interative 12 module program that an be ompleted in its entirety, by speialization or by individual topi. Eah module is aompanied by a PowerPoint to supplement the eduation from the mentor. 13 FLCMAA FUTURE LEADERS PROGRAM The FLEP is an eduation program foused on mid-level management that was developed in order to provide valuable eduation for the next generation of ative managers and leaders in CMAA. What is the Future Leaders Eduation Program: An online and mentor program that fouses on all 10 CMAA Core Competeny areas over a 10 month period. Who an partiipate: Any mid-manager that is either a member of FLCMAA or works at a lub that has an ative FLCMAA member may partiipate. How does it work: Eah month there are 3 online ourses offered and a 1 hour Mentoring Call. Partiipants an hoose any 2 of the 3 ourses offered and are required to partiipate in the Mentor Conferene Call on the last Thursday of eah month. What do partiipants reeive: Partiipants reeive 3 Other Eduation redits for suessful ompletion (inludes module testing) of the required online and mentoring all omponents for eah of the 10 Core Competenies.
