You understand the importance the Charles River has for your community and the need for Charles River Watershed Association s science and advocacy on behalf of the river. As our communities face emerging environmental issues frequent droughts, extreme storms and increased water pollution CRWA s innovative science, engineering, advocacy, and education takes on new importance. CRWA s innovative work building climate resiliency includes designing green streets to filter rainwater and reduce flooding; recycling waste to restore the environment; and advocating for the prioritization of flood control, water quality, and public access to the river in development projects. Science Our data collection and analysis give us a solid foundation to develop practical and successful solutions to restore the Charles River. It s vital to the health and well being of our community. Over 1 million people use it daily whether walking, running, canoeing, or without knowing use it for natural protection from flooding to combat climate change. People use it to educate future generations on the importance of science and stewardship of our precious river. As you may know, the Charles River is clean, but ironically this poses the greatest threat with land grabs by private developers, pollution and reducing regulations. The progress we have achieved together with our partners spurs us to aim higher in teaching how human beings and the river can thrive together through endless opportunities.
