1 Better together Improving outcomes through innovation and implementation Delegate guide With thanks to
2 Welcome from the chair As the chair of NICON, I am delighted to welcome our health and social care colleagues and partners to the 2014 NICON Annual Conference and Exhibition. Everyone who is involved in health and social care is acutely aware that we have embarked on a journey to transform our services to allow us to find ways to meet increasing demand at a time of financial constraint. The list of changes seems endless: providing new models of care, using technology, focusing on safety, empowering staff, service users and carers as well as developing new relationships with public, voluntary community and independent sectors, all at a time when we are also seeking to develop new cultures of openness and transparency. We have begun, but there is still much to do. At last year s conference, the major theme was collaboration, with many colleagues from within the statutory health and social care sector and further afield showing a real willingness to get involved and improve outcomes for our population. Following on from that, the theme of our conference in 2014 is Better together: Improving outcomes through innovation and implementation. We strongly believe this title sets out the strategic themes that we should address to meet the needs of communities now and into the future. It is simply imperative that we implement positive changes to health and social care services and that we show an urgency in delivery. Finally, I am sure you will all join me to thank Accenture, BT and all our partners who have supported us to deliver a great learning experience for all our delegates, and a significant milestone in our collective efforts to deliver great care. We look forward to learning more about your work and exploring the opportunities to support each other. Colm McKenna Chair of NICON and South Eastern HSCT Coming up over the two days NICON 2014 conference and exhibition provides the premier opportunity for leaders in health and social care and our partners to come together to discuss the way forward. We ll be tweeting throughout the day so don t forget to follow us on #NICON14 Throughout the two days delegates can: hear from key leaders about the strategic direction of change be informed by emerging international practice reflect on the local and regional implementation progress discuss with colleagues their local transformational change projects visit the innovation showcase and exhibition network with colleagues from voluntary, independent and statutory sectors as well as service users, elected members and workforce representatives. 2 Event supported by

We are delighted to be able to share our learning and experience from helping to transform health systems around the world, and we wish you well in the important task ahead. Kevin Duffy Head of Health and Public Service Delivery NI, Accenture BT are proud to be again supporting the NICON conference.
