1 Opportunities to become involved Belfast Trust aims to improve services through meaningful involvement with patients, service users, family cares and communities. In addition to being involved in your own care or treatment, or that of the person you care for, the following opportunities for involvement exist. If you decide to become involved you are eligible to claim out of pocket expenses. Opportunity for BHSCT Board Meetings The Trust Board holds approximately six meetings in public each year. Details of the Board members, the meeting dates and Board Minutes are available at Structure.htm The DHSS&PS appoints non-executive directors, with the approval of the Minister for Health, Social services and Public Safety. Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 10am and anyone can attend. Marion Moffett, tel
2 Public Consultations The Trust welcomes comments from anyone on public consultations One-off comment or meeting All consultations are advertised in the local press and are on the Trust s website at If you would like to be added to the consultation list, please contact Lesley Jamieson on or lesley.jamieson@belfasttrust.hscni.net PPI Steering Group This is an open forum which can be attended by representatives of the Trust s Carers/Users Forums/Groups and co-opted members The Trust s Steering Group will meet four times per year. 4 HIV Service User Forum The HIV Service User Forum will provide a platform for partnership working and engagement between Trust services, service users and relevant support agencies in order to improve services All current service users of BHSCT HIV services Meetings are held around 4 times a year Contact details for the SUF are sufbelfast@gmail.com Homeless Focus Groups The Public Health Nursing Service organises sessions for homeless residents of hostels to enable them to shape the service and identify their needs and gaps in services. 5 Looked After Child and Care Experienced (LACCE) Youth Forum This is a co-production engagement initiative with service users to explore innovative, safe, effective and responsive services for young people. This group is open to service users who are looked after children aged 16 and over and care experienced young people who have left care. It is anticipated that the group will meet monthly Further details can be obtained from ray.morgan@belfasttrust.hscni.net Maternity Services Liaison Committee This forum is for maternity services users and those who work with them, to represent the views of mothers to the Trust. The aim is to work together to design and improve services in response to the needs of women. 6 Mental Health Services Interview Panels Current and ex-service users and carers participate in interview panels for staff appointments. 7 Neurology Patient and Carer Forum This forum provides opportunities for regular and detailed engagement for patients and families who access the Neurology Service. Furthermore, the Forum provides input regarding Neurology and Neurodisability services from a client perspective across Northern Ireland. 8 Outer West Sure Start Parent/Carers Forum This group s purpose is to ensure that programmes/services and activities are relevant to and meet the needs of the target group, to evaluate and feed back on quality of services and service provision. The group is open to all parents/carers who use Outer West Sure Start services (children under the age of 4 and their families). Self-Directed Support Service User and Carer Advisory Group The purpose of this group is to provide a service user voice/perspective re the implementation of Self-Directed Support. 9 Smile Sure Start - Parents feedback sessions The purpose of these sessions is to ensure that programmes/ services and activities are relevant to and meet the needs of the target group, to evaluate and feed back on quality of services and service provision, and to obtain ideas and suggestions for future activity and services.
